"Seriously, it's not that hard at all, Susan." Dr. Harriet Hidgens took a knife from a discreet sheath in her boot, and threw it at the target in front of her with perfect aim and accuracy, hitting the bullseye dead center. She turned to her intern. "I know you are just required to help me in the labs, but it's crucial that you know how to accurately throw a knife. I chose you to be my intern. I could have just as easily chosen someone else. You need to be willing to learn." With that she turned on her heel, collected her knife from the target, and walked out the door, leaving a somewhat confused 18 year old transgender girl, who went by the name of Susan Davidson, standing in an empty training gym. She quickly ran after her boss, into the lab they shared. Or, the lab that Harriet let Susan share with her sometimes.

Harriet was bored. Nothing was happening at all! Well, she was trying to teach Susan how to defend herself, but that didn't count since it wasn't working. She supposed that nothing happening might be a good thing, since she was a government agent, but it was absolute torture to her. She was about ready to draw a smiley face on the wall of her lab, and use it as a target like she'd seen in the show Sherlock, which she only watched because she enjoyed figuring out the mysteries before the so called genius that Sherlock Holmes was supposed to be, but before she could find spray paint to do so, her computer flashed, notifying her that there was a portal somewhere nearby.

"Susan, remind me never to let you use a knife. Come with me." Harriet said, standing up. She bit back a smile, and clicked the safety of her gun off.

"Wait, what? Where are we going?" The girl asked, trailing behind the taller woman.

"There's a breach near the dumpster behind Starbucks. We're going to catch whoever comes through." Harriet couldn't help it anymore. She grinned widely as she passed the younger girl a taser, but quickly shifted her feelings to inside her head. "I don't trust you with a gun or a knife, so this'll have to do. Do not use it unless I give you the go ahead, or unless you need to defend yourself. After, if I think you've done good enough, we can get coffee or something." She threw a bulletproof vest and a belt with a holster at the teen, and walked away.

"I- Uh-" Susan didn't have time to protest, as Harriet had already left the room. She quickly threw on the vest, put on a sweatshirt and the belt, and ran after the unusually happy woman.

When the pair reached the Starbucks, Harriet pulled out her comm, and spoke into it.

"Hello agents at base, this is Agent Hidgens. I am currently going after a breach that has been detected, and am already at the sight with my intern. Just letting you know." With that, she clicked off the comm, and Susan stared at her, knowing that as soon as they got back, the entire agency would be all over them, yelling at Harriet.

Susan followed Harriet behind the little strip of buildings, and almost stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the breach. It was... beautiful, in a way. Harriet pulled the girl behind a dumpster, and they watched as multiple people fell from the various points of height in the portal, which was very tall. One boy wearing a mid-1840s looking getup, like someone fresh off the Oregon trail, who couldn't have been more than nine years old, was already on the ground when they got there, unconscious, and bleeding out of a very deep looking cut on his hand, and another girl, maybe 13, was also unconscious next to him, with an evidently broken shoulder and probably more of her arm.

Two people fell from the sky and into the dumpster, a man and a young woman, not in that order. The woman said something that sounded like 'Curt?' when she saw the man that had landed on her. He answered with something like 'Oh! Sorry!'. Another man fell out of the lower part of the portal, landed next to the two unconscious children, and swore. The weirdest though, was probably the last person. The woman simply walked out of the top of the portal, looked down, saw she was falling, swore, and when she landed, visibly dislocated her shoulder, popped it back in, and glared, directly at Harriet and Susan's hiding place, all while drawing a two knives from her bandana. Knowing that at least that woman had seen them, if not others, the two women stood up. Harriet pointed her gun at the woman in front of them, and Susan clutched the taser on her belt tightly.

"Who the fuck are jou?" The woman asked, in a Mexican accent.

"W-who the fuck are you?" Susan shot back, trying to stay calm. Harriet nodded in approval of her confidence.

"Why should I tell jou?" She asked. Susan was about to tell him, when the man who had landed near the children started yelling.

"You! Shut up! You two look like you can help these people! Curt, it's Kendall and someone else!" He yelled. Harriet took a mental note of the man named Curt. Kendall was obviously the older looking child, and she had no idea who the rest were. Harriet and Susan quickly traveled towards the injured children, and so did Curt and the woman who he had landed on, after climbing out of the dumpster, that is. Time to figure out what the hell was going on.
