You sit next to the child, reading a book you had found in Kuiils home. Mando and Cara are arm wrestling at a table a few feet away from you. Kuiil is tending to the bluurgs. "I got you Mando," she says, grinning. "Care to double the bet?" He asks her. You mostly block out their bickering but it's been a few seconds and it's oddly too quiet. You look up and Cara is gasping for air.

Her hands are on her neck. You quickly get up and run over to her. Mando looks over at the child and sees his hand raised in front of his concentrated face. Mando grabs the child. "No! No no, stop! We're friends, we're friends! Cara is my friend!" He says to the child. The loss of the child's focus makes him stop choking her. Cara takes a few deep breaths as she leans forward a bit, stabilizing herself against the table. She points at the child. "That is not okay," she says harshly.

"Very curious," Kuiil says to Mando. "Curious!? It almost killed her!" You yell. "The story you told me of the mudhorn now makes more sense," Kuiil tells Mando. "What is it?" He asks. "What it is, I don't know. But what it does, this, this I've heard rumours of," Kuiil tells him. "What? When you worked for the Empire?" Cara asks, visibly frustrated. "When I was sold to the Empire, in indentured servitude," he says, turning his attention to her.

"Yet somehow, you walk free," she says, standing up. You grasp her arm, causing her to look at you. You shake your head no at her as a way to say "it's not worth it".  "I bought my freedom through the skill of my hands and the labour of three of your human lifetimes," Kuiil says angrily. "Do not cast doubt upon that of what I am nor whom I shall serve," he finishes. The IG-11 enters. Cara stares at it. Harshly. Mando breaks the silence in the room. "Tell you what. I can really use your craftwork right now. Can you pad this container so the Child can sleep better?" He asks Kuiil.

You pull Cara off to the side of the ship so you and her have some space from the others. "Hey are you okay? You ask her. She sighs. "I'm fine. Just a bit tense I guess," she tells you. "Don't be. Everything is gonna go smoothly," you say. "Yeah I know. I just don't trust that Ugnaught and don't want you to get hurt because of him," she says. "I'm a big girl. I can handle myself," you say with a smile. She tucks a stray hair behind your ear, letting her hands linger on your face. She kisses your forehead gently, pulling you into a hug. "I trust you," she whispers.

You sit in the cockpit with Mando and Cara. "So we're going to Nevarro," Cara says. "Have you ever been?" Mando asks her. "No. We lost all of our forces there. The city's dug in pretty deep. There's no cover when you drop in. Stayed in Empire control till the end of the war," she tells him, sitting down next to him. "The warlord we're taking out was an Imperial officer," he says. "What station?" She asks.

"Hard to tell. No insignia anymore. I took out the safehouse when I snatched the kid. More Imps have reinforced since," he tells her. "There is something more going on," she says. "Maybe. We'll find out more when we land," he says. As they finish talking the IG-11 walks in. You look at it silently. "I have prepared second meal. Would you care to be served here or below?" It asks Mando. "I'm not hungry," he tells it. It exits the cockpit.

"Under no circumstances does that thing leave the ship," Mando says. "You got a real thing for droids, don't you," you say. "I got a real thing for that droid," he tells you. "The Ugnaught said he rewired it," you protest. "That droid was designed to kill things. I don't care how much wiring he replaced, it goes against its nature," mando points out. "Well, shouldn't be a long job anyway. You take out the head Imp, the rest will run like rats," Cara tells him before exiting the cockpit. She walks down to where Kuiil and the child are to eat her food.

It's just you and Mando left up there now. It's silent for a moment. He speaks up. "She's lucky to have someone like you. She's been through so much shit it's good that there's someone always there for her," he says. "She lets her guard down around you. She doesn't do that often," he tells you. You stay quiet, not sure exactly what to say. He glances at you. "She really loves you Y/N. I can see it in the way she looks at you," he says. "You really think so?" You ask. He nods.

"In the years I've known her I've never seen her choose to be so vulnerable around anyone before," he tells you. "Keep her close to you Y/N. You never realize how little you treasure your time with someone until they're gone," he says. "I will," you respond. "You should go be with her," he tells you. You nod and stand up, preparing to exit the cockpit. "Thank you Mando," you say. He nods.

You climb down from the cockpit, scanning the room with your eyes. Cara is sat in the corner with the kid, feeding it small bits of her food. You walk over to her and sit down, resting your head on her shoulder. She looks at you concerned. She places down her plate on the other side of her and nudges the kid lightly as a way to tell him to give her space.

"Are you alright sunshine?" She asks you. You nod, humming a little yes. You sit up straight and look at her. "Can you hold me for a little?" You ask her. "Of course," she whispers as you lay your head in her lap. She places her arm around you, playing with your hair with her other hand. You drift off into a light sleep under her delicate touch.
