You had been slowly settling in to your new job of teaching the children. You liked it if you were being honest. It was nice to choose to help out kids for once instead of it being forced onto you. A 3PO protocol droid works along side you, helping you retain the information that had slipped from your mind over the years. If you're being honest the droid tends to do most of the teaching. You prefer being there just in case over being a full time teacher.
You're busying yourself with cleaning the space in preparation for the kiddos. You look over, noticing that the bin of water you had been using along with a rag to wipe off surfaces was becoming quite murky. You pick it up, taking it outside to be emptied. As you exit the building something in the air catches your eye. It's a ship. It's no mystery who the owner of this scrap heap of a ship is. The real question is why in the world is he here.
You're brought back to reality as you feel cold water hitting your feet. While lost in thought you had accidentally tilted the bucket sideways.
Another though breaks through your mind. I gotta tell Cara!! you think. You drop the bucket, hastily sprinting over to where her quaint office is located. As you enter you look around. She's nowhere to be found. She walks in a minute or two after you. "Hey y/n... what are you doing h-," she starts. You interrupt."Mandos here," you tell her, your voice heavy with gasps. You try to regain the breath that you lost from running all the way there as you hunch over. Your hands rest on your knees. She smiles and drops what she was doing. "Why didn't you tell me sooner," she says as she exits the building, walking off to find where Greef Karga is stationed. You roll your eyes a little as you laugh at her actions.

The three of you walk up to Mandos humble ship. The door opens with a loud creaking noise. It only opens half way before halting. Mando climbs out the hunk of junk, settling himself in front of you. The child is sat in his left arm carefully. "Looks like someone could use some repairs," Greef Karga says as he reaches out, shaking Mandos hand. "How's my credit around here?" Mando asks.
"I think something could be arranged. Isn't that right, Marshal?" Karga says, directing his words towards Cara. "I'm sure we could work something out," she says, glancing at mando before turning her attention to the child. You push up next to her as you take the child from Mandos arms, cradling it as it reaches up at you, smiling. "I'll get my best people on it," Karga says to mando. He yells in the direction of two beings to start working on Mandos ship. They comply. Karga takes the child from your arms despite the pout on your face that follows his actions.
"Come here little one!" He says with a slight laughs. "Had Mando been taking good care of you?" He asks. "Come on. Yeah. Look at you," he continues as he turns, walking towards town. Karga speaks to the child in a light tone, like the kind you would use on a small house pet. You laugh a little, shaking your head as you, Cara, and mando follow him into town.
"Looks like you three have been busy," Mando says as the four of you walk through the marketplace. People bustle all around you. "I myself have been steeped in clerical work. Marshal Dune here is to be thanked for cleaning up the town," Karga tells him. "And may I just say I think she has done a wonderful job," you chime in, smiling widely. You're proud of Cara and you're not afraid to show it.
"Your ships not looking too good," Cara says. That was the understatement of the millennium. "I had a run in with the new republic," Mando replies nonchalantly. "They should leave the outer rim alone. If the empire couldn't settle it, what makes them think they can?" Karga says as he leads you all to the entrance of a building. Your school building to be exact. "Here we are," Karga says.
"I'm surprised to see this place is still standing," Mando says. "Wait till you see inside," you tell him, a smile on your face. Cara thinks it's cute how proud you are of your work. You rush inside. The day for the children had already begun. You feel kind of bad that you left the droid to prepare for the kids and start teaching all alone.
"Who can name one of the five major trade routes in the galaxy?" The feminine sounding 3PO asks the children. You chime in from the back of the room, causing all the kids heads to turn. "I'll give you a hint. It starts with an H," a child raises his hand. You call on him for his answer. "The Hydian way?" He says uncertainly. "Yes!" You say with a smile. "Great job," you finish.
"Ah Ms. L/N. I was hoping you'd join us today," the droid says. "Would you like to take over?" The 3PO unit suggests. "Ah it's okay. You've already started. I'll just watch," you say. She accepts your answer, quickly continuing her lesson.
"A school?" Mando asks. "Things have changed a lot around here," Cara tells him, looking at you. "We're gonna leave the little one here so we can talk business," Karga says. "Wait. wherever I go, he goes," Mando says stubbornly. "Mando, please. Where we're going you don't wanna take a child. Trust me," Karga tells him. Mando looks hesitant. You lean over to him. "He'll be fine here. You have my word," you say. He sighs.
Karga takes the kid to the front of the room, placing him at one of the tables. Whispers break out through the room. You quiet them. "Friends, a little reminder that a new face does not mean a new conversation. Pay attention to 3PO please," you say calmly. Caras caught up in watching you. You're so gentle with the kids. Shes never been very fond of children but for a slight moment the imagine of a family with you crosses her mind.
"Come on," Karga says. His words knock her out of her little thought bubble. Her, Mando, And Karga exit the school building quietly. She glances at you once before leaving. You turn your attention back to the lesson once they've left. It's nothing you don't know but you still enjoy the lulling sounds of the 3POs perfectly robotic voice.
