You walk through the sewers with Cara and Greef Karga. Cara holds the child. You had been passing him back and forth. You turn sharply as you hear footsteps behind you. You're on edge until you see IG-11 with mando on it's arm, helping him walk. You sigh with relief. Cara hands you the child and practically runs to him, making sure he's okay. "I got you," she says as she takes over helping him.
Mandos injury slows you down a bit but it doesn't matter to any of you. You're all just glad he's alive. Especially Cara. You could practically feel the joy radiating off of her. "Do you know which way to go?" Greef Karga asks. "No. I don't know these tunnels. I've only entered from the bazaar," Din says. "Well, if we get the smell of sulfur and we follow it, it'll lead us up to the plains where the river flows," Greef offers. "And the Imps will catch us before we make it to the ship. We need the Mandalorians to escort us to safety," Din responds.
"Ugh this place is a maze," Cara says angrily. She starts to move herself and Mando in another direction but he speaks up. "Stop. I can stand," he says. "The bacta infusion is working," says IG-11. "I'll try to find tracks," Din says, scanning the ground from inside his helmet. "We're close. turn here," he tells you. You walk down a hall and stumble upon a room. You all split up, looking around the room. Din finds a pile of Mandalorian armor. He drops to one knee in front of it, picking up one of the helmets.
Cara steps closer to him, seeing what he's looking at. "We should go," Cara says. "You go. Take the ship. I can't leave it this way," he says. He turns his attention to Greef Karga. "Did you know about this? Is this the work of your bounty hunters?" He asks. "No. When you left the system and took the prize, the fighting ended and the hunters just melted away. You know how it is. They're mercenaries. They're not zealots," Greef says.
"Did you do this? Did you?!" Mando says, getting in Greefs face. "No!" Greef Karga yells. You place your hand on his shoulder. "Mando you need to calm do-," he turns around, grabbing your wrist in his hand and twisting it slightly. You cry out in pain. "Don't tell me what to do," he says. Cara steps in quickly, prying his hand off you. She glares at him as if he was a stranger to her. "I do not care how upset or angry you are right now. You do not touch her. Ever. Is that clear?" She asks. He nods silently, taken back by her sudden harshness.
"It was not his fault. We revealed ourselves. We knew what could happen if we left the covert. The Imperials arrived shortly thereafter. This is what resulted," a woman mandalorian tells him. "Did any survive?" Din asks. "I hope so. Some may have escaped off-world," she says. "Come with us," din offers. "No. I will not abandon this place until I have salvaged what remains.
Mando and Greef Karga follow her to another room. You're about to follow her too but Cara stops you. "Hey today's been a lot are you doing okay?" She asks. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me," you say smiling. She looks nervous. "I-is what Moff Gideon said about your dad-," you interrupt her. "Yeah. I'd rather not talk about it though," you say, shutting down the conversation as fast as possible. The day was already so emotional you don't think dead parent talk is the best way to go. "That's okay. It's fully up to you," she says, placing her hand on your cheek. You lean into her touch
"Cara?" You ask. "Yes," she says, looking into your eyes. "Can I tell you something," you say. Your heart is racing. "Yeah of course what's up?" She asks. "I-um.... Everything's been going so wrong today so just in case anything happens, I just wanted to tell you that I-," Greef Karga comes in. "Can you two get in here please," he says. You pull away from her quickly. "Yeah soon," she says to him, your hand in hers. "So what was it you wanted to tell me?" She asks. "Nothing. Nevermind," you say. The moment was ruined.
"You sure?" She asks. "Yeah," you say quietly. "And Y/N? While we're already talking, what do you think about the idea of staying here?" She asks. "I would love to if I wasn't basically mothering two children," you say, laughing slightly. "They could come too if you wanted. Or they could stay where they are. It's all up to you," she starts.
"This is about you. About us. Im most likely going to stay here and I want you to join me," she says. "I'll have to ask Carter first but yes, I'd love to live with you here. You say. She smiles wide. It's not lustful or seductive. It's full of pure joy. She kisses you gently before letting go of your hand and walking to the second room. You follow close behind her.
"Hey. These tunnels will be lousy with Imps in a matter of minutes. We should at least discuss an escape plan," Cara says. "If you follow the descending tunnel it will lead you to the underground river. It flows downstream toward the lava flats," the last Mandalorian says. "I think we should go," Greef Karga says. "I'm staying. I need to help her, and I need to heal," din says.
"You must go. A foundling is in your care. By Creed, until it is of age or reunited with its own kind, you are as its father. This is the Way. You have earned your Signet," she says, attaching the signet she forged to Mandos pauldron. "You are a clan of two," she says. "Thank you. I will wear this with honour," din says. Explosions startle you. Stormtroopers enter the tunnels. "We should go," Greef Karga says.
"IG, please guard the outer hallway. A scouting party draws near," the lady says. The IG hands Cara the child. "Hang on. I don't do the baby thing," she says. You laugh, taking it from her arms. "I have one more gift for your journey. Have you trained in the Rising Phoenix?" The Lady asks Mando. "When I was a boy, yes," he says. "Then this will make you completes," she says, handing him a jet pack. "Thank you," mando says. "When you have healed, you will begin your drills. Until you know it, it will not listen to your commands," she says.
"I understand," din says. The sound of blaster fire breaks out in the hall. It's silent as the IG returns to the group. "You are protected," it says. "More will come. You must go," she sayss. "Come with us," mando suggests. "My place is here. Restock your munitions. IG, carry this for Din Djarin until he is well enough to wear it. Now, go! Down to the river and across the plains. Be safe on your journey," she says. "Thank you," Mando says.
