Purote held his backpack tightly, fists shaking. Mom kicked him out. She said  she didn't care what happened to him. He didn't want to go to that neighborhood. He was too much of a bother. So he headed the opposite direction. He picked a random alleyway and crouched down against the wall.

"Who're you? What're you doing? " A voice asked.

He jumped. "S– sorry! I'll go!"

"No, no! You're good!" A figure bigger than his own stepped closer, hands waving. Their hair was a dark red.

"Okay?" He scrunched back down, holding his breath. Maybe this person would kill him and he'd finally stop hurting.

"Whatcha doing back here kid?"

"Just- just waitin'"

"Waiting? For what?" Purote shrugged, making blood drop off his stained hair and into his face. "You're- oh shit- you're bleeding. You good?"

Purote nodded, mumbling a quiet 'yeah' as the exhaustion finally caught up. He toppled over hard.

"KID!"

"'M Puro'ay nice ta mee' ya" He whispered, barely awake.

He groaned, when he woke. It was dark, where was the light? Eyes fully opened, he looked around, wincing when moving his head hurt. A blue light lit the darkness when he moved and he focused on it. It was the guy from before. He whined, pulling his legs and arms as close to his body as he could until the pain got worse.

"Better now?" The guy asked, tone light and non threatening.

He affirmed.  "Hurts" He slowly sat up.

"You're being hurt at home aren't you?"

Purote shook his head vehemently, earning more pain. "No!"

"It's okay, I understand"

"Why?"

"I am too"

He shook his head, this guy was older than him. Wasn't it supposed to stop?

"I know it seems bad, but your stronger than everyone else in the world, all of us hurt like this are"

"N– No, you guys are... I'm I'm a villain. Mom said..."

The red haired guy shook his head, "Do you want to be a villain?"

"No! I want... I want to be a hero. I wanna save everyone. No more punishments"

"Then I'll be counting on that, you be the best damn hero ever, okay?"

"Okay"

"I promise I will cheer you on no matter where I am alright. You better become the best"

He held out a pinky and the guy laughed, yet they shook on it, Purote cracked a smile.  The guy pulled bandage tape out of his pocket and in mutual understanding, Purote searched his bag, of which he'd been laying on as a pillow. He pulled out the roll of bandages and handed it to the guy.

After a few minutes of silent bandage wrapping, the guy hummed.

"There. Now... I've gotta get home and you should get somewhere safer. So you know where you can go?"

Purote nodded, "Block– Block 16" He mumbled.

"Okay, good" The guy stood up and started stepping towards the opening of the alleyway. "You go there and be safe. I hope I see you again"

"Me too" He replied.

"What was your name again?"

"Purote, they call me Purote. From Purotekuta"

"I'll remember that. When you become the best hero, I'll be cheering you on, Purote"

"Thank you" He smiled, feeling warm.

The redhead looked back before he turned out of the alley, "By the way I'm Touya"

Purote stood, using the wall behind him as support, " Touya," He mumbled, "I'll remember you too"

It took him an hour and a half, but he made it to block 16.when he did, he used his backpack as a pillow and slept in his favorite spot by the road. He hoped he for to see that guy again. Touya... He'd have to write that down to remember it. He'd be the best hero, he promised.
