Piteous tale of the self that you continuously inhale
Stories co-authored by fear & the wounded ego
More dangerous than a unstable gambler in a casino
Concern yourself with the voices let loose in your head
Before they rot your soul and leave you for dead
Voices magnified by bruises brushed under the rug
Self-deprecation is a miserable man's favorite drug
Rewrite the soaked & smudged stories of your past
Reject also the depressing gloom you have forecast
Not everything you think about yourself is true
It's always a good time to introspect & start anew
