Wings Of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy

~Eight~

Clay looked around seeing that he was on a stone tower like structure and had chains on his wrists and neck as well as clasps on his wings. As he looked around something fell in front of him. With a closer look he saw that it was a bunt rabbit and for once he didnt want to eat. He just wanted his friends.

"Hello! I brought you something to eat." A female skywing said as she hovered beside where he was chained up. He looked at her but didnt speak.

"Hi! I'm Peril. The queen's champion. Aren't you going to eat? What's your name?" She asked and he sighed a little.

"Clay." Was all he said then glanced at her.

"Come on, you have to eat." She said with a small frown.

"Why?" He asked and she smiled.

"Because i don't want you to die before i kill you." She said gaining his full attention.

"What?" He asked a bit concerned.

"You know, in the arena." She said tilting her head a little.

"But you don't want me to die first?" He asked skeptically.

"Right! I've never fought a mudwing. You know, because we are on the same side if the war. Im so excited!" She said with a smile making Clay shiver a little.

"Do we have to fight?" He asked and she gave an amused scoff.

"Are you serious? Have you been living under a rock or something?" She asked and he nodded.

"Pretty much." He said and she tilted her head again.

"Reappt? All right. That's the queen's arena down there. There's a battle almost every day for her Majesty's amusement. If you win enough battles, you go free." She said using her tail to point at the arena.

"How many is that?" Clay asked curiously and she frowned a little.

"I dont know. No one's ever done it. After a few wins, her Majesty sends me in. I always kill the.  Im really dangerous. I cant wait to fight the nightwing! Nobody knows what that will be lime. What is he can read my mind and knows what im going to do before i do it?" She said excitedly.

"Starflight! Where is he?" Clay asked and Peril pointed to the other side of the spires.

"Somewhere over there." She said and Clay perked up a bit.

"What about Tsunami?" He asked and she looked at him.

"The seawing? Boring. I've fought plenty of seawings." She said with a bored tone.

"Have you seen my other friends? Glory, the rainwing? Sunny, she's small and kind of odd looking and Frostburn. She is a hybrid of a skywing and Icewing." He said and she thought for a bit.

"I've only seen the hybrid. She is with the other icewings. But the other two i havent seen. But I'll keep an eye out of you want. Cheer for me!" She said then flew off leaving Clay with his thoughts.

"Welcome to today's battle!" Scarlet's voice rang out after a short time of silence. Clay looked down to see what was going on and spotted Glory chained to some kind of dead tree and she wasnt moving. She looked as though she were sleeping and that made him worry.

"Well? What do you all think of my new art?" Scarlet asked as she gestured to Glory. The dragons sitting in the seats of the arena all cheered. Clay was angry that Glory was being called art but wondered why the female wasn't fighting back.

"Bring in the combatants!" Scarlet yelled making the crowd of dragons cheer again.

"Get off me!" A sandwing yelled as two guards unchained him and took him to the arena. Clay covered his face not wanting to see the fight only to move his claw knowing he needed to see how Peril fought.

"After four victories, Horizon the sandwing- formerly, and unwisely, a soldier in Blaze's army- has been challenged to a match with the queen's champion, Peril." A guard announced as Peril waited eagerly to fight the Sandwing. Horizon was clearly bigger than Peril but that didnt seam to affect her excitement.

"Claws up.....fire ready....FIGHT!" Scarlet said with a smile on her face as Horizon crouched down only to stand back up when he noticed something about Peril. Quickly he turned and ran making Peril roll her eyes and sigh. She took flight and beat him to where he was headed making him skid to a stop.

He swung his tail at her only for it to catch fire when she hit it. He fell to the ground after letting out a yell of pain.  Clay watched surprised as to how Horizon's tail had caught fire by Peril just clawing him.

As Peril walked towards the injured sandwing he tried to scoot away eventually bumping the wall of the arena. Having nowhere to go he knew that he was done for. Peril put one of her claws against his wing causing him to yelling pain again. The pain was too much for him so he looked at Peril before lunging at her.

This time his entire body caught fire and he died Within seconds. Clay looked horrified as Horizon's body burned while all of the others just watched.

"Well, that was boring. I hope tomorrow someone will at least try to amuse me. Today's games are over!" Scarlet said unamused with how short the battle was.

In the prison cell with the icewings Frostburn was small compared to all of the others.

"What two idiots would have a hybrid?" One of then snarled as he looked at Frostburn making her tail lash a little.

"Hvituar the Icewing and i never new the name of my mother." She said with a snarl as one of the icewings moved closer to her.

"Ha! He hated Skywings with a passion! He would never go so low as to become mates with one." A dark blue icewing said as he glared at Frostburn.

"Yeah and you never expected him to be part of the talons of peace. I guess my father wasn't the dragon you all believed him to be." She said earning huffs from the males as they finally backed off.

"Well he was a close friend of mine until he left. I guess what pushed him to leave was your egg." One with a scar on his face and neck said.

"Get ready. I hear Scarlet has something planned for all of us icewings soon." He said and she stayed in her corner but nodded. She would hopefully find out who her mother was while here. If she didnt have to fight in the arena first.
