Wings Of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy

Once morning came Clay woke as two guards came over to him. Not wanting to fight he allowed them to do what they needed.

"What's going on?" He asked as they unclasped some of his chains.

"Private audience with the queen." Almandine said making the male guard roll his eyes.

"Is that a good thing? Or a bad thing?" Clay asked and the male guard huffed.

"Shut up." Was all he said as Clay faced Almandine seeing as she was more friendly.

"I don't know because I've never been a prisoner before. Unless, technically, maybe i was, but this is a lot... windier. Plus, there's a queen, that's new. Does she normally meet with prisoners? Maybe right before letting them go?" Clay asked making the male snarl at the talkative male.

"I said shut up." The male guard said making Clay duck his head a little. As the two guards picked him up to take him he heard Tsunami make a sound at the guards.

"Keep her still!" One yelled as Tsunami struggled against them. Clay souldnt help but to think about what he should have done when the guards came to retrieve him. As soon as they landed Clay saw the cells. As he and the guards passed one he saw Kestrel.

"Kestrel!" He said making the Skywing look at him.

"Another word and there's going to be an unfortunate accident." The male guard said with a snarl making Almandine give a quick glance to the young mudwing.

As soon as they got to the throne room the two dragons gruffly tossed Clay to the ground making him slide a bit. While shaking his head he stood up seeing Starflight bowing in front of the queen and Glory on her new branch.

"Are you all right?" Clay asked only to be shushed by his nightwing friend.

"He's trying to tell you that it's rude to talk to anyone before the queen in her own thrown room. What do they teach dragonets these days? Bow." Queen Scarlet said from her throne. Quickly Clay bowed only to stand back up when he heard Tsunami.

"This is an outrage! We're the -" she went to say only for Scarlet to cut her off.

"Dragonets of destiny. Yes, very thrilling. You know, not everyone wants this war to end. Personally, I love it. I get lots of contenders for the arena from the battlefield. And it's a terrific distraction for dragons who might have challenged me for the throne. Save me a lot of trouble." She said with an evil smirk. Tsunami growled and looked at her.

"So it's all right with you that dragons have died all over the world?" She asked angrily earning an amused look from the queen.

"As of you know anything about that. Have you ever been in a real battle? Have you ever seen hundreds of dead dragons? Do you know anything, really, about this war?" Scarlet asked making Tsunami look away.

"We've studied it....we know its awful...innocent dragons are getting hurt!" She said once again gaining her confidence making Scarlet smile widely as the guard brought in Frostburn.

"Its easy to say war is awful, but hard to solve our dragon problems without one. Who should be the next sandwings queen? Burn, Blister, or Blaze? I'd love to know what you've decided from the wisdom of your underground cave?" Scarlet said and Frostburn growled.

"That wasn't their fault! They wanted to be out in the world." She said gaining everyone's attention.

"That's what you think. Halarious. As if you'd have survived this long out there. Your guardians did tell you what happened to all of the Skywing dragonets born on the brightest night, didn't they? I wont go into details, but it was very sad." Scarlet said making Frostburn crouch a little.

"Excuse me! I have a question, your Majesty. Where's Sunny? Is she alright?" Clay asked as everyone looked at him and Starflight stomped on his tail. 

"Oh, the odd-looking sandwing. I think Burn will like her very much. She collects curiosities. You should see her palace. Its quite horrifying. Full of two-headed lizards....and seven-toed dragon talons...and stuffed scavengers with weird pale skin....your little friend will fit right in. I'd give her the hybrid as well but i want to see her fight in my arena." Scarlet said making everyone worry.

"You can't give Sunny to Burn! Or make Frostburn fight!" Tsunami said quickly making the queen gibe a short unamused laugh.

"I can do what ever i like." She said and Clay frowned.

"What's wrong with Glory?" He asked and the queen stood tall.

"Nothing. She's quite perfect, if you ask me." She said and Frostburn looked at Glory.

"But why is she all....sleepy?" Clay asked and the queen scoffed.

"Rainwings are naturally lazy. Hadn't you noticed? But then, mudwings are naturally stupid." She said causing Tsunami to become angry.

"You have to let us go! The prophecy-" Tsunami said making the queen cut her off as she flung her wings open.

"Oh, shush. Your spunkiness is starting to bore me. My hatching day is tomorrow and i want a thrilling arena.  But i want to see at least one of you fight today. So which of you is most likely to survive? The nightwing?" Scarlet asked making the others stand quickly.

"Me!" Tsunami, Clay, and Frostburn said at the same time. Making the queen smile a little.

"Adorable but seriously." She said as the dragonets began to argue.

"You two are delusional. I beat you all the time." Tsunami said making both dragons huff. Clay went to speak but Frostburn was faster.

"A hybrid would be more exciting than just another seawing wouldn't it?" She said and the queen gave an excited smile.

"I love you're enthusiasm, dragonet!" She said and used her tail to point at the other three.

"Guards take these three away. As for the hybrid....prepare her for the arena." She said and the guards did as they were told.

"No! Frostburn you cant fight! Let me fight instead!" Clay said quickly but she only ducked her head. As two guards came to get her.

After only a few minutes Frostburn found herself in the arena with the harsh words of the dragons around her. All of them were about her being a hybrid. As she listened her heart sank as her opponent was brought out.

"After last month's battle with Blaze's army, my dungeons were stuffed with Icewing prisoners of war. Only five have survived. After two wins, here's Fjord of the icewings! And in this corner: the abomination hybrid of an icewing and one of our own skywings! One i cant wait to see be taken out....Frostburn!" She said earning cheers and yells from the crowd. Frostburn could only look at Fjord as the queen spoke. She had only known him for a day but she felt like he had become family. Plus he had already been in a real battle before this....she knew she was out matched.

Yup! I replaced clay's fight with Frostburn's! I thought it would add a nice twist to this whole thing. The next chapter should be out soon.
