Nistro X Reader

bit of a weird POV shift a few paragraphs in, but eh, can't be asked to change it tbh. but lemme know if you enjoy another characters pov,, maybe I'll mix it up a bit in the future??

When Dextra had resigned as his manager to pursue a career in teaching young duellists two years prior, Nistro had been convinced he could find no one better than his longtime friend and colleague. He thought no one could know his strategies, routines, likes, dislikes, and him as a whole, as well as she did. However, you seemed to have blown his expectations and standards out of the water on your very first day on the job, planning ahead and adjusting existing plans to his comfort.

He remembered the first time he'd been able to sit down and get to know you as a person, not just a manager. A sponsor had cancelled last minute due to complications. Whilst you had been on the phone re-scheduling, Nistro had been debating whether to ask if you'd like to eat dinner with him in the hotel restaurant.

Fortunately he did, and it led to one of the easiest, most enjoyable conversations you'd ever had with anyone. Nistro tended to talk big in the arena and on tv, but outside of his pro-duellist persona you found that he was much more easygoing and cheerful than he was on the big screen.

A few weeks later he had taken you on your first date together, in London. He'd managed to duel his way to victory in yet another tournament around the world, and decided to use is last day in the city to show you the sights. It was cold and drizzly, as per usual in England, but neither of you had minded much, drawing warmth and comfort from your entwined hands as Nistro pulled you through uneven street after street, eventually ducking inside one of the country's famed fish and chip shops.

And so you stood there, huddled together under a leaky bus shelter, sharing a polystyrene box of chips and grinning at the absurdity of it all, promising to come back again some day.

A year and a half after that first date, you were back in London, listening to the chatter and traffic surrounding the hotel as you waited to be handed your key to your room. Nistro had insisted on booking at this particular hotel, for reasons unknown to you, and so you were curious as to what made him so adamant. However, before you could take the keys from the receptionist and go about your day, your boyfriend swooped in, reaching over your shoulder to swipe the key from her grasp. He shot you a lopsided grin before hastily shoving it into his pocket and ushering you away, calling a quick thank-you to the woman behind the desk.

"What was that about?" You enquired, dodging a businessman on his way to check in as Nistro tugged you across the lobby and over to the sliding doors.

"We haven't been here since our first date, so I thought we'd visit memory lane." He hummed, looking both ways before leading you across the road. As you turned a corner, you asked:

"Do you even know which side of London we were?" You laughed, slipping your wrist out of his hold and instead your hand into his easily, like you'd done so many times before.

"London can't be that big, can it?" Nistro seemed a little overconfident for your liking, but deciding to play along to see where it all ended, you followed him anyway.

As it (unsurprisingly) turned out, London could be that big, and it was. Every road looked the same, every building in a uniform, with the exception of skyscrapers that never seemed to get closer or further away, no matter which way you two walked.

It ended up being early evening before Nistro finally admitted defeat, and bashfully asked you to ask for directions back to your hotel. Laughing a bit, you did so, using your not-quite-but-nearly fluent English to acquire instructions from a passerby.
