Standing across the street by the shops, I waited for Nate to arrive. Constantly checking the road for that familiar black pickup. I did my best to stay hidden by the side of the building, scanning the Saturday crowds for my parents. I had notified them that I was hanging out with Kash so I wanted to make sure my cover wasn't blown. It wouldn't be the typical yelling match in the street with them. Oh no, not them. Tina and Beth would stay hidden and follow me.

A lie from me would warrant a huge investigation, Tina making it into a whole sting operation, seeking out answers to find out the root cause of my dishonesty. I could hear it now: 'We thought you were taking drugs‒' or worse, 'we thought you were running away.'

Nope, I gotta leave soon before any of that happens.

Local shop patrons walked by, the pattering steps of the cobblestone was somehow soothing as I scuffed my vans against the curve. I checked my phone again and it showed his ETA was five minutes away.

Just hurry up already!

I couldn't believe I was so anxious to get in a car with Nate. A wafting smell of pot made its way to my nose as I peeked up to see who was so bold enough to smoke in broad daylight.

Across the walkway stood a hipster dude, smoking-- as Beth called it the devil's lettuce. He looked up and caught my curious staring. He nodded, raising his brow when I shifted my gaze to the floor.

Please don't come over, please just ignore me, please don't walk over here...uggh please!

I could hear his footsteps stop before as I looked up to see the stranger standing in front of me.

Great, a wild creeper has appeared.

"Sup... You want a puff?" he asked, handing over a blunt.

"No thanks," I didn't want to hear Beth go off on me, her good southern ways would not stand for a quick slip into the dark side, and she had the nose of a fucking border collie.

"Cool no worries," he didn't move, still lingering by as he finished his smoke before ashing it out on the wall behind us and pocketing what was left. His getup signaled two things to me: hipster and fuckboi. How he pulled that off was the true mystery at hand. The young and reckless shirt paired with his baggy shorts did not go with his bright-ass orange beanie. The huge gauges on his ears looked like he had a lot of choices in life, and that was a solid choice. His piercing blue eyes were probably the only thing that was working for him. Call me jaded, but after hanging out with Theo and Nate, I could definitely say this guy was not attractive. And I would know since I was apparently waiting on my gay card to arrive in the mail anytime now. No denying my sexuality at this point.

"So uhh-- you live around here? Haven't I seen you before?" He awkwardly asked.

"Umm yeah, I live around here," I answered blankly.

"Oh sweet, cool. Anyways the names Spencer, but you can call me Spence," he chuckled like it was some inside joke. "And you are...?"

"Remy."

"Remy, that's an interesting name." He laughed again. I seriously didn't know what was so funny to him.

"You gotta chill vibe to you." He walked closer and I could feel my personal bubble pop from his unwanted approach. "Yo, you smell fucking nice, like peaches." He sniffed the air around me before stepping back, covering his face as he freaked out.
