The once boisterous bathroom soon faded to a somber quiet. Sounds of a dripping faucet cut through the room, the low cadence following a calming tempo—time passing in another form. Someone had been patiently waiting for such silence.

The eerie creak of the stall door slowly swinging its way open, revealed a mysterious, slender figure stepping into the light. Scanning the nearby urinals for any other souls, Frank emerged from the shadows. The mayor had concealed himself, waiting for the moment he could execute his plan. The man nervously slipped into the next stall over, where one particular Omega had just emerged.

A sense of urgency drove him to such bizarre behavior, double-checking to make sure he had all that he needed. With the toilet still unflushed, a mild stench of urine filled his nostrils.

"Perfect." A weasel smile branded the man's face as he hurried to do his next task. Pulling a thin package from his suede, dark gray blazer coat, he anxiously peeled it open to pull out a white plastic stick, dipping into the contents of the ceramic bowl below.

How long should I wait? he thought to himself. Frank didn't have a clue if he was doing this right. Truth be told, he didn't even think this plan would work, but he was desperate. He knew how much his life depended on this. Everything had to go right or else—someone would have his head.

It was a long two minutes of waiting. The mayor ended up counting the number of drops from the leaking sink, hoping to distract himself during the entire process.

After a while, he let his impatience get the best of him. Holding the plastic test up to the light, Frank tried to decode the lines before him. The fluorescent bulb dull's haze gave the man a small spotlight. With his brow pinched, he pensively studied the coveted results.

"No way!" Frank sputtered. He couldn't believe it. He didn't actually think this was real, but alas, he had done it. Something had gone right in his life for once. He'd actually gotten the test to work.

"Yes!" he shouted, a bit too loud. Covering his mouth, he foolishly forgot where he was at the moment. Holding in his excitement, the man thought it was high time he should leave. It wasn't exactly the most secure place to celebrate such a precious finding. Tucking it into his suit jacket for safekeeping, the mayor peeled out of the bathroom stall, completely forgetting to wash his hands as he coolly strolled down the hall. He needed to get out while he could. With the dance in full swing into the eleventh hour, Frank snuck out of the school building. There was going to be one less chaperone at Rosewood High.

Discreetly as possible, the mayor followed a crowd out to the parking lot. Of course, it wasn't that discreet. The group of teenagers eyed the starkly suspicious adult tailing their caravan. Luckily for Frank, most people were used to ignoring his presence, a sign of his low popularity. His slow pace quickened to a light-speed stroll when the group parted, hastily getting into his blue BMW so no one could see him.

Hands trembling, he redialed the last number in his call log from his burner phone. The line rang, and the monotone sound danced through the silence. Frank nervously tapped on the steering wheel, unable to keep still in the draining silence.

"Hurry up!" His voice pitched to a squirrelly squeal. Paranoid as ever, it felt like there were a million pairs of eyes on him at that very moment. Even though that wasn't the case, it still gave the man a sense of fear. What he was doing right now could be considered treason. By all regards, the mayor of Rosewood should have been loyal to the packs, and Frank seemed to give that impression at times, but it was all a convenient masquerade. The human played the role he was given, pretending to be the jester in the court as he waited to collect on his end of the bargain. It was all for his security in the future—one where he was set to gain considerable power. He couldn't back out on the deal now, not when so much was at stake.
