So Valentine's Day was a flop, which was no surprise to me.

Everything was planned: the dinner, the movie, even down to the choice of underwear for that night. But my plans were soon thwarted by my parents. Before I could even make it out of the house that day, they stopped me at the foot of the stairs.

"And where do you think you're going, Mr. Socialite?" Beth had on her pretty pink heart apron. Just like all the tiny decor in our house, she always had new aprons for every holiday season—any excuse to go to the next town over to get more knick-knacks.

"Uh, I'm going to Kash's house." I smiled, batting my big brown eyes. It was something I rarely did, but I needed to pull all the stops out so I could secure my freedom.

"Well, you need to tell Kash you're busy tonight. You're rarely around the house anymore." Beth pouted, using her motherly charm to take me on a guilt trip.

"I keep telling everyone that I have a ghost for a son now," Tina chimed in from the breakfast nook, closing her laptop. The two stared at me, waiting to see if I was planning to break their hearts.

Damn it! They trapped me!

With my duffel bag on my side, I sighed, slowly dropping it on the ground.

"Fine, I'll stay."

Beth squealed, placing kisses on my cheeks while pulling me into a tight hug. There was no point in fighting; I could tell they wanted to hang out. Maybe I wanted the excuse, already getting second thoughts on my daring plans for tonight.

'Hey guys, sorry but I can't come this weekend.'

'Why not,' Nate was already complaining, but I decided not to argue with him.

'Can't, my parents want to hang out.'

'Ok, no problem, Remy, we understand,' Theo mindlinked.

'Yeah, we'll see ya Monday,' Nate responded coolly. Even though they seemed like they weren't bothered, our bonds said otherwise.

Another huge sigh came from me as I trudged my way into the kitchen. Beth was humming, whipping up dinner. Cautiously, I sat down, making sure I didn't hurt myself. A startled gasp left my lips, but luckily my parents didn't catch it. Tina threw me a quick smile, getting up to put her laptop away.

I spent all this time getting ready, and for what? Absolutely nothing.

It wasn't hard to notice I was in a bad mood, although my parents were used to that by now. Still, it wasn't entirely their fault. I had all but completely disappeared since I became mates with the alphas. Guess it was just natural for me to do so. My moms, as annoying as they could be at times, still deserved my attention too.

Beth brought over caprese chicken pasta with freshly baked garlic knots, a small peace offering that I gladly accepted. It was a quiet evening; the three of us tuned into Netflix to watch a movie. I spent most of my time fidgeting, clearly uncomfortable, but I made it through to the end.

Retiring for the night to my room, I kicked off my shoes, lousily aiming for my closet. Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I laughed at my poor attempt to "dress up." In my favorite maroon alien hoodie and the first set of jeans I saw, it wasn't exactly screaming hot date material. Running my hands through my dark brown curls, I was at least glad my hair was holding up. Knowing the alphas, they would think I looked amazing.
