🌸 Chapter 15 🌸

Heisuke woke up early in that morning, quite excited for the day had to bring as the Swim Club was finally going to start off today onwards. She took quick shower, cooked herself, her grandmother and her dog, Makkou, some breakfast before packing up two bento lunchboxes before she set off outside her home to head down the stairs to meet with Haruka and Makoto.

Spring had dissolved into summer, and lighter uniforms had been requested to be worn by the students. Heisuke really liked how airy it felt now.

Just as she expected, Heisuke found Makoto waiting for her and Haruka. The brunet was on his usual spot – halfway up the steps, at the base of the single torii with a chouzuya that led into the Nanase House. However, today, he was sitting down.

"Mako-Chan!" Heisuke called out as she hopped her way down the stairs but slowed herself down when she saw that Makoto was with a young kitten. "Oh, that's Neko-Chan!"

"Neko-Chan?" Makoto asked, looking down at the kitten that he had been stroking and playing around with. "Oh, good morning to you, Hei-Chan,"

"Good morning," Heisuke replied, giving him a bright smile. "Neko-Chan belongs to the children in the house over there, Naruna Oba-San's grandchildren. They got Neko-Chan recently,"

"No wonder, otherwise Hei-Chan would've taken Neko-Chan in," Makoto said, smiling back at the pink-haired girl, who looked rather shyly sheepish.

"... that is true," Heisuke admitted. "Ne, Mako-Chan, isn't Haru-Kun out yet?"

"I have been waiting on you two," Makoto replied.

"Oh, thank you for that, Mako-Chan," Heisuke said earnestly. "You can wait here for a moment longer – I'll go and get him to hurry up, okay?"

Before Makoto could tell her that it was okay and they weren't in a hurry, Heisuke bounded off to the direction of the Nanase House, entering through the backdoor. It was silent in the house and Heisuke made her way up the stairs quietly, knowing Haruka was there.

"Haru-Kun?" Heisuke called out, noticing that the door to the bathroom was open, and empty, so she headed to Haruka's bedroom. "Haru-Kun, have you gotten up yet?"

"Hei-Chan," Haruka said as he turned around to look at the pink-haired girl stepping into his room.

"What's going on, Haru-Kun?" Heisuke asked in her pouty voice. "We have to go to school, you know? Have you had breakfast yet? You're still in your pyjamas,"

"Hei-Chan, I need your help," Haruka replied, and Heisuke blinked at him. "I can't pick one,"

Haruka gestured toward his bed, and Heisuke noticed six swimming trunks laid out – all of them were black with purple designs that varied from each other. Heisuke walked over, looking at them rather thoughtfully. She tilted her head and pointed one of them out.

"I think that one would look good today," Heisuke informed the black-haired boy. "Since it is the first day of summer, it will only make sense to wear such a sleek design, you know?"

Agreeing with her astute observation, Haruka picked up the swimming trunks Heisuke had picked.

"Remember to wear your summer uniform today, Haru-Kun," Heisuke said, noticing his winter one laid out. "And you can give your winter uniform to me. I'll get it dry-cleaned with mine and pack it up. Although, I don't think you will need it again..."

The thought of leaving school did not suit Heisuke very much so she quickly changed the topic as she turned to look at Haruka, "Mako-Chan is waiting for us. Get ready quickly, and I will make breakfast for the go,"
