If there was an alarm clock that nobody ever wanted to possess it would be a ghost screaming in your face, "Alex wake up!" Sarah screeched, those big blue unresponsive eyes piercing hers. If she hadn't been smiling Alexa would have surely had a heart attack from the fright. "Sarah, are you trying to take me with you?""What? Yes, we got you a costume for Comic Con, it's outside your door, and we're going in half an hour, let me know if you need help with it!" The ghost proclaimed then floated casually back through the wall she must have come. "Why would I need a costume?" She slumped back into bed.Why had she been forcibly put in a taxi taking her across London in what looked like the single most impractical outfit made of budget plastic fake leather, it even had a blue cape, and why did she need straightened hair? She would have been fine with the sword if there'd been a scabbard, but she looked insane and would stick out like a sore thumb. What had they mentioned before they disappeared over before her, 'I wish we could get her a magical winged horse to ride.' She couldn't bear it any longer. She over to the taxi driver, "Do you know who I'm dressed as?" she growled."I do, and it's a great cosplay! You have the pissed-off alcoholic attitude down to a tee," he answered immediately, so helpful, was there a drink? She may need one. The car stopped and boy, had she misjudged it, not only did she not stand out, she almost blended in, everyone as far as she could see was dressed at least as mad as her. Was that a 'Selene' from that vampire movie they'd watched months ago? It was all fine that people did this but why was she here? She followed the crowd, dodging the cameraphones and requests for pictures. Until she caught the scent of Bahman, she marched towards him, grabbing his 'cowl' by the neck, "What are you wearing?" She wasn't too surprised, the young man had donned a black cape, cowl, and bright yellow hideous belt. "I'm Batman.""I know that, explain.""Alex there's a new vampire show that a panel is previewing today and it sounds amazing! We have to see it.""We're out here for a research trip?""No Comic Con is amazing! A place where everyone is weird fun and accepting.""And everyone is?""Human probably but let's just have fun." Bahman struggled out of her hold, and she let him fall. Fun? This was not her idea of fun, especially when there was something in the air, that gave her a feeling of dread she was not happy with. They milled in and wandered around the vast warehouses of bright-coloured stalls, creative spaces, and food stalls. Bahman was in his element, Sarah close to him. Whereas Alexa only saw plastic, everything was so artificial a fantasy, she was a wild animal locked in a very strange box. Was it a full moon? Is that why it made her feel so, itchy, her wolf so close? The trio walked into the main room and took seats centre of the audience. Great she can listen to and watch people doing vampires and playing vampires. Ugh, at least she could try to sleep. The show played to too many cheers and whoopings, it had depicted vampires as pretty much the savours of humanity, the planet. They only drink blood because they have to, they're really good under it all, and they'll be there to save you the stupid teenagers that fall in love with them. Sarah had loved every minute of it, it was the ideal fantasy show even better than, dare she think it, the first few series of The Vampire Diaries. Who would've thought vampires and space, were out to save the planet but they could only do it when they were facing away from the Sun. The poor creatures having to live without the Sun, if she hadn't been killed by a vampire, she might consider going to convince one that this was the right thing to do they should help the human race, further us into a great future. It was all so exciting, the stars and people were coming out for the panel. So many 'hot vampires' of each gender, that she couldn't wait for the show. Alex shot up, what was she doing, she dove onto the stage as a pink-haired woman gaped in shock. Alex had her prop sword in hand like a real weapon, smashing it on the pink-haired woman's neck as she'd made a stroke to decapitate her. Both of them stopped for a moment, Alex standing on the table as she glared down, calculating. The pink-haired woman should have called security but she jumped up to the table next to Alexa, smiling widely too widely, teeth were starting to seep out. "Batman, I think that's Alex's villain." Bahman watched the two women start to exchange blows. "That's a vampire she can't kill?" "Uh hu. Think you can teleport over to the house and bring back something useful?""Like what? The kitchen knives?""The other house, in Devon, get out your phone we can find the house on Google." She directed him, and he instantly got an image of the house up, he wouldn't lie about having looked up the place as soon as Alexa had made her calls, but no one had asked yet. He shuffled down in his chair and disappeared."Hello?" Bahman called. The house was way creepier than they had mentioned. Were there more ghosts? There was a sudden whoosh and he found himself at another part of the house. Had he teleported? Was something trying to kill him, this time the gust was the air around him, he was sitting, tied to a chair in front of a small figure, backlit by four great screens. "Batman, why are you in my house?" The voice was female and young sounding. He immediately felt relieved until, a slightly larger form, walked over and bent to loom next to her, its red eyes glowing, clacking its claws on the desk. "I'm Bahman and Alexa sent me to get a weapon to kill a pink-haired vampire, that's probably going to kill her since I gave her fake weapons.""What!" The smaller one jumped up, "Paul, where's the taser clamp we need to save my Alexa?""The thing you tried on me, that stung me for days, it's in the fridge. Next to the pile of macaroni cheeses.""Yes, that's the one get it for me please?""BrB." The evil-looking shadow disappeared as if he'd teleported, but there had also been a faint gust of wind like he had just moved fast. And in a flash, it was back, but lacking the red glow as it went to whisper to the smaller seated form. Bahman could just about make out something like "Can we trust him, we've only got one and this guy thinks he's Batman." He warned, his English was accented but Bahman couldn't tell how but distantly European? Was it because English was also not his first language and he'd spent so much time listening to others to pick up all idiosyncracies or was he looking for a connection to Dracula? The small woman passed him a large see-through plastic bag filled with water, but instead of a goldfish, there were two vibrant and glowing pink and blue jellyfish with interlocked tentacles covered in wires, flashes crossing through the wires every few seconds. "Tell her to place a fish on each side of the girl's chest, back and front. Then bring her here. Thank you." The small woman shooed him also as she passed the creatures over with a flick of her dainty hand. "Um, the weapon is alive?""Yes get on with it." The red eyes started glowing again."I can't take anything living with me.""Ah, scuzz!" The monster cursed."That's not a problem," The woman fished out a small electrical device and dropped it in the bag, an electrical pulse flashed and the jellyfish stopped moving. "I've set it to re-animate them in 10 seconds. Good Luck!" She patted him on the back. Okay... he tried teleporting with fresh jelly sushi.Sarah didn't want to watch anymore, Alex and the pink-haired woman, who must be a vampire were exchanging blows, and the crowd... They were cheering. Would it make it better if they were screaming and freaking out at the real existence of vampires? She decided to leave them, ignorance might be bliss. She pouted and twitched her nose. Where was Bahman? She ghosted backstage. There was only one person left, he looked strong and wore a black suit, a security guard, no the way he looked straight at her she could see he had more of a military background, all of his body seemed chiselled under his perfectly tailored suit, there was no part of him not covered in muscle. He was salt and pepper, with dark brown eyes, and an easy tan. That's it, he reminded her of what a Greek god was described as. She had tried to focus on returning her ghost-like invisibility, and thankfully he hadn't reacted to her and must have been staring at the doorway behind her before she ghosted in. He did look familiar though, perhaps he was an actor that was playing a bit part in the series. He'd suit a vampire role if he wasn't so tanned. She walked onto the stage and launched a chair at the back of the pink-haired vampire. "Watch where you throw things!" Her struggling friend shouted back at her as the chair narrowly missed her arm. "Get something useful!" She flipped backwards over an outstretched claw swiping at her, then kicked the hissing young woman in the gut as she landed.Bahman teleported in at the back, 2, 1. The bag flashed again and the creatures inside resumed their movement. He took a deep breath and for the moment, became his inner Batman and waltzed back into the hall as if he owned the entire city. The ushers didn't even look in his direction, they were too absorbed in the fight before them. He even heard a: "If this is the budget for a panel imagine the stunts past the pilot." "You think they'll do practical and stunts instead of CG, awesome?" Bahman walked down the aisle with purpose, past all the other guests, press, and cosplayers, that filled every seat. Except, he noticed his thoughts to Alexa's. He looked about for Sarah. No trace of her. The bag felt lighter, when he looked at it, it was floating, he let go of it and watched as for a minute it hovered towards the stage until it was thrown like a massive water balloon at the vampire hunter come Valkyrie. He knew he had to do something. What would Batman do to the lights? "Put them on either side of her heart!" He screamed to the stage, as he teleported up into the lights and pulled at a bunch of wires he hoped were close to the power supplies. Pink and orange strange orbs sprayed out and were instantly knocked downwards. There was a collective gasp in awe from the audience as a body seemed to be electrocuted from the front, then also illuminated from the back, two blobs of vibrant colour and flashing strings of light flashing between them. She'd done it, now what? Alexa stood over Paul's vampiric sister, he and Diana had most definitely had something to do with the contraption. That's what they could find to disable her? A biological taser! This wasn't going to keep her down, she needed something more lethal but before that, she needed to get the creature somewhere away from the crowds. Bahman and Sarah appeared in unison behind her. She whispered, "Any ideas how to get her out?""Roll her in a curtain, I nabbed one already." Her ghostly friend glowed as she proudly flaunted a roll of the curtain in her arms. All of a sudden it was hard to breathe, she gasped, her heart was racing draining her oxygen so quickly she was sitting stars. A large hand had her by the throat crushing her windpipes closed. How had she missed this other vampire, where had he been, she heard a far too-close crunch, she tried to gasp for breath again but nothing. The already dark world was turning black."Alex!" Sarah screamed, the man from earlier appeared from nowhere and crushed her friend's throat, snapping it in one. Alex made a loud thud as she fell off the stage, lifeless. The murderer picked up the pink-haired vampire and left in one smooth motion. Alex wasn't dead too she couldn't be! She pulled Bahman after Alex, her physical form scatting, as they dragged the body under the stage. "She can't be dead yet look at her." "Her neck snapped. All we can do is be thankful the vampire didn't turn to kill everyone here." Bahman let out cooly.
