*It has been a month since the breakup. You've talked to your parents, sister, and friends about it. You thought that you would miss Lizzie less by now, that you would have started to move on, but you were wrong. The pain didn't get better, but you did get better at hiding the pain and pushing it down so that you can still live your life.*

You had a cross country meet today and did really well. You got first place with a new personal best time and your team overall did great and beat the other team. You are all arriving at the airport to go back to school(your race today was in L.A so you had to fly there). You arrive and go through security. You get to your gate and find out your plane is delayed. You set down your bags and decide to get some food. You and your friend/teammate Clara go into one of the little convenience stores to get snacks.

You are looking at the magazines and then Clara suddenly grabs your arm and turns you to walk out of the store.

Y/N: Hey! What are you doing?!

Clara: Um I don't want a snack anymore. Let's go.

Y/N: Well I'm hungry and I need caffeine, I'm gonna get a Yerba Matte or something.

Clara: Why don't we go to a different store?

Y/N: Why? We're already here?

You laugh and turn around. Suddenly you realize what Clara was trying to protect you from.

You see Lizzie standing on the other side of the store, talking to the woman at the checkout counter.

Y/N: Oh...

Clara: I'm sorry, I thought it would be easier if you didn't see her.

Y/N: It's...I get it. It's fine.

You keep staring at Lizzie. Then you turn around and run out of the store, Clara following close behind you.

You run into the airport bathroom and lock yourself in a stall. A few minutes later you hear Clara, the rest of your team, and your coach come in and stand outside the stall.

Serena: Y/N open the door or I'm coming in.

You stand up from sitting on the floor and open the stall door. You stare at the ground, embarrassed, as tears fall from your eyes to the floor.

Coach M: Clara told us what happened. Tell us what you want do?

Y/N: I don't know!
You start to cry harder.
I thought I would be better by now but I'm not! All I've wanted to do for a month is see her, but when I did, I just froze!

Coach M: It's okay. You don't have to talk to her if you're not ready.
She pulls you into a hug.

Y/N: I'm not ready but I think I need to. Because I will always think that I should have said something to her if I don't.

Emilia: Are you sure?

Y/N: Yeah. I'm sure.

You slowly pull away from the hug and walk out of the bathroom, followed by your coach and team members. They all go back and sit in the waiting area by your gate.

You walk back into the store and see Lizzie is still there, standing by the shelf of magazines that you were looking at earlier. You are about to go up to her when you see a guy,
a little older than her, come up behind her and put his arm around her. She smiles up at him and leans her head back on his chest. You gasp loudly.
Lizzie and the man look up at you and so do some other people in the store.
You cover your mouth with our hand and turn and walk away. The tears slowly dripping down your face.

Lizzie: Y/N!
She calls after you.

You keep walking.

Lizzie catches up to you and grabs your shoulder, turning you to face her.

Lizzie: Y/N that is not what it looked like!

Y/N: I don't care. We broke up. You can do whatever you want.
You turn and start to walk away again. Lizzie grabs your shoulder again.

Lizzie: Y/N please just wait!

Y/N: No! You broke up with me! I don't owe you anything.

Lizzie: I know, I know you don't but please, please let me talk to you.

You stand still.

Y/N: Talk.

Lizzie: I'm sorry. I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! The last thing I would ever want to do is hurt you.

Y/N: Well you did.

You can see Lizzie start to tear up.

Lizzie: I never meant to. I thought that it was what we both needed. We hadn't been talking much and we were both going to be doing totally different things in different parts of the world. I thought I was doing the smart, mature thing.

You scoff at that.

Lizzie: BUT it was stupid to think about that instead of thinking about the fact that I love you and want to be with you. We shouldn't have to sacrifice one of the things that makes us happy for the other. I was coming to tell you all of that! We had to come back to L.A for a photo shoot this weekend and I was going to come and see you. That's why I was here today. That guy you saw me with is one of my cast mates, Jared. There is nothing going on between us! Please, please tell me you'll be my girlfriend again! This last month has made me realize that I can't live without you.

Y/N: Lizzie....
