*Today is your college graduation. Your parents, Amy and Tyren(plus Penelope), and Lizzie are coming. You are also having a party at your parent's house afterwards with more people.*
Authors note: Amy and Tyren got married about four months ago and the date for you and Lizzie's wedding is one month from now.

You have to leave to get to campus for graduation in about twenty minutes. You just finished getting dressed. You are wearing white floral dress underneath your cap and gown. You walk into the living room and see Lizzie sitting on the couch.

Before you can say a word, she has snapped a picture of you on her phone.

Lizzie: There's my little college graduate!

You roll your eyes

Y/N: Lizzie it's not that big of a deal! Jeez, you're worse than my mom!

Lizzie looks hurt

Lizzie: It is a big deal! I'm proud of you!

You smile and go and straddle her on the couch. You take hold of each side of her face and lean in to kiss her. You glide your lips to hers and whisper into her mouth.

Y/N: I love you.

Lizzie: And I love you.

You hear the doorbell ring and get up to answer it.

It's Tyren, Amy, and Penelope. Penelope is close to two years old now and is already able to talk quite well. Amy is holding her but she is squirming and trying to get down.

Y/N: Hi guys!

Penelope finally squirms out and falls to the ground. But this doesn't upset her at all. She stands right up.

You kneel down next to her.

Y/N: Hey Penelope!

She moves around you and runs into the living room. Lizzie was already walking towards the door and suddenly feels her leg being attacked by a tiny person. She picks Penelope up and kisses her cheek. Penelope smiles and giggles.

Lizzie: How's my favorite niece doing?

Penelope: Happy!

Lizzie: Well that's good cuz I'm happy too! Are you excited to see your auntie Y/N graduate?

Penelope says nothing but snuggles closer to Lizzie.

Y/N: She's not even trying to hide her favoritism anymore. She likes you way more than she likes me!

Lizzie laughs

Lizzie: It's not my fault!

Y/N: Nah. It's there fault,
You point to Amy and Tyren
for letting you name her. Right from the beginning you had an advantage.

They all laugh

*15 minutes later your parents have arrived too and you all leave for graduation.
They find their seats and and get settled in and you go sit down with the rest of your class.*

You are starting to feel sort of faint but you have been feeling a bit like this the last few days, probably just anxiety, so you don't think much of it. You sit and watch the ceremony and listen to the speeches.

Your row is called to stand up and you all get in line to go up on stage and receive your diploma. You are still feeling dizzy and you have a headache.

Y/N: I'm fine. Just got to get through this and then I can go home and rest a bit.
*You whisper to yourself*

As it is getting closer to your turn, you feel a pain in your chest. You put your hand over your heart and try to steady your breathing. Then your left arm starts to feel weird.

Y/N: This can't be happening, right? I'm just working myself up! Stress is mimicking the symptoms.
*you whisper to yourself*

The pain gets worse and you crumple to the ground. People standing near you gasp and lean over to try to help. You pass out and lay there in the middle of the crowed of your fellow graduates.

As you are passed out, your friend Kara notices the commotion and comes over. She sees that it is you on the ground and runs to tell Lizzie and your family.
They quickly rush over to you and Lizzie kneels down next to you.

Amy: What happened? Is she alright?

Penelope begins to cry in Tyren's arms.

Tyren: It's okay honey. Auntie's gonna be just fine.
*he says this in a reassuring way but he really doesn't know.*

Someone has called 911 and a few minutes later an ambulance has pulled up. Lizzie holds your hand during the whole ride.

Lizzie: You're gonna be okay baby. I'm right here.

*The ambulance reaches the hospital and the paramedics unload the gurney and begin talking to the doctors.*

Paramedic: 21 year old female, Y/N Y/L/N, passed out at her college graduation. No obvious head injury but onlookers said they noticed her grabbing her chest.

Lizzie hops out of the ambulance and stands next to them.

Lizzie: I'm her fiancé, Elizabeth.

Doctor: Well Elizabeth, I am Doctor Stevens and I am going to take very good care of Y/N. Can you tell me anything about her medical history. Any major surgeries or trauma? Heart condition? Asthma?

Lizzie: Um no Asthma or heart condition that I know of. She does have anxiety and she has ptsd from a pretty severe trauma. She was kidnapped and hurt badly for several days before she was able to escape.

The doctors exchange glances.

Doctor Stevens: How recent was this?

Lizzie: A little over two years ago.

Doctor Stevens: Okay. We need to run some scans. A nurse will show you where you can wait and we will update you when we know more.

*Lizzie stands helpless as they wheel you inside. A few minutes later, the rest of your family arrives and they all are brought to a waiting room. They sit for several hours, mostly in silence, except for Penelope occasionally asking questions and running around.

Lizzie: This relationship has had enough hospital waiting rooms and not enough for happy reasons.

Penelope tilts her head.

Penelope: What's a happy reason?

Lizzie manages a small smile.

Lizzie: Like when you were born.
She kisses Penelope's head.

Just then, Doctor Stevens comes over.

Your mom sits up in her chair and looks expectantly at her.

Mom: So? What's the news?

Doctor Stevens: We have determined that Y/N has suffered a cardiac arrest. She is currently in recovery and you cannot see her now, but soon.

Dad: But she's only 21? She's always been fairly healthy. What could have caused this?

Doctor Stevens: Y/N has a severe type of Arrhythmia. Although these can usually be harmless and most people of Y/N's age would not be greatly affected by them, some can be more serious and if untreated, can lead to cardiac arrest.

Lizzie: But will she be okay?! You were able to help her, right?

Doctor Stevens: There is no way to tell in the long term, but for now, she is stable. We will prescribe some anti-arrhythmic drugs that should help. However, she may need surgery in the future.

Tyren: Like a heart transplant?

Doctor Stevens: Possibly, but there are other options, such as a pacemaker. However, we'll try out the medicine first.

Amy: When can we see her?

Doctor Stevens: She needs her rest now but when she is awake you can go in.
