*The surgery was complete and you had been brought to the recovery room.*

Lizzie's POV:
*Lizzie is in the waiting room with everyone who came to the wedding. They are still unsure if your surgery is over and how it went.*

Your sister is sitting, curled up next to Tyren, with Penelope on her lap. Your mom is on her phone, frantically searching statistics and things to help when recoverying from surgery. Your dad is pacing the floor with his arms crossed. Lizzie is sitting with her head on El's shoulder and with Sofia rubbing her back. Her crying has slowed and now she just sits silently.

Lizzie looks up as she hears people walk in through the front automatic doors.

Scarlett: I came a quickly as I could! Colin was going to come too but he's staying with Rose.
*She says as she rushes to Lizzie's side.*
Any news?!

Lizzie: None yet.

Scarlett: Here, I thought you all could use this.
*She sets down the cardboard tray with a bunch of coffees.*

Mom: Thank you so much Scarlett. I know Y/N would be glad your here.

Scarlett: Of course!

She leans down and hugs your mom then goes to sit next to Lizzie.

Lizzie: Scarlett, what if...what if she doesn't make it? I've been completely shutting her down whenever she talked like that and I tried to stay optimistic, but now that she's really in surgery...

Scarlett: If she doesn't make it it will be completely terrible. And you will feel like the world is over because your world will be over. But we aren't there yet. You can think "what if?" but you can still have hope.

El: Couldn't have said it better myself.

Sofia: Me either.

Scarlett softly smiles. She takes Lizzie's hand and squeezes it.

Scarlett: Lizzie, after your accident, when you were in a coma for four days, Y/N was having a very hard time having hope. But something that sometimes helped a tiny bit was talking about good things, either good times with you, or hopes for the future. So tell me about a happy memory with Y/N recently.

Lizzie takes a deep breathe

Lizzie: Well...we got married.

Scarlett: When?!

Lizzie: Just a few hours ago. We wanted to invite more people but we knew most couldn't get here in time and the doctors wouldn't let it be too big of a wedding. But it was what Y/N wanted. She said...
She starts to cry again

Scarlett: It's okay, keep talking.

Lizzie: She said she wanted to marry me before she died. You should have heard the way she said it! It made me feel horrible because she sounded so sure and so loving but also so sure that she was going to die.

Scarlett: Remember, you're talking about good memories. Don't think about death. Think about her loving you so much that she didn't want to even think about not being married to you.

Lizzie is silent for a little while and she calms down her breathing.

Lizzie: Leading up to the wedding in the little hospital chapel, it was hard for me to think about happy stuff. But once I saw her, so ready and sure and beautiful, I couldn't help but smile and cry,
She giggles softly
but mostly smile. When she got up to the front and I took her hand and looked into her eyes, everything felt okay for a minute. I was just with her. And when I got to kiss her for the first time, as her wife, it was the best I have ever felt.

Scarlett: Then hold onto that feeling, that love.

Lizzie: I'll try. Thank you.
She squeezes her hand.

*A few minutes later Lizzie's mom walks in, followed by Brie(they were on the plane from L.A together). Although Scarlett was flying from New York, her flight left earlier so she got there sooner.*

There are more hugs and tears and explanations.

Everyone sitting near Lizzie disperses for a minute so that her mom can talk to her.

She sits down and wraps her arms around Lizzie so that she lays her head on her chest.
Lizzie begins to cry again.

Jarnette: I know Lizzie, I know it's hard. Just let it out. I'm here and I've got you.

Lizzie: I'm scared mom! I feel like if she dies a part of my will die.

Jarnette knows there's nothing she can say to help right now. She just has to pray and hope for you to be okay. She pulls Lizzie closer and kisses her head.

*Half an hour later*

Dr. Stevens walks into the waiting room followed by Dr. Baso.

Everyone instantly tensed up, waiting for one of them to speak. Lizzie is holding her breathe and squeezing Amy's hand on one side and her mom's on the other.

Dr. Stevens: Y/N went into cardiac arrest during the surgery...

Lizzie let's put a soft noise that sounds strangled.

Dr. Stevens: However, we were able to restart her heart and finish the procedure. She is currently in recovery.

Everyone makes surprised noises of cheer and happiness. Your Dad goes and shakes the hands of both doctors.

Dad: Thank you! Thank you so very much.

El has picked up Penelope and twirls her around. Amy kisses Tyren and cries into his shoulder.

Amy: I-I was so worried!

Tyren: I know Amy, but she's okay, she's gonna be okay.

Lizzie runs over to Dr. Stevens and flings her arms around him.

Lizzie: I can't thank you enough for bringing her back to me. I owe you so much.

Dr. Stevens: You don't owe me anything! It wasn't her time to go, her heart just needed a little reminder of that.

Lizzie just smiles and goes to hug everyone else.

*Finally, a few people are able to go see you(your parents, Amy, Lizzie).*

Your POV:
*Your eyes slowly begin to flutter open. You feel a heaviness and pain in your chest and you feel sore and weak but you can tell your alive. You look down and see the blankets of the hospital bed. You see an IV in your arm and some other wires hooked up to take your vitals. You look to your left and see what you most want to see, Lizzie's smiling face.*

Y/N: I promised, didn't I? I promised I'd fight.

Lizzie's smile widens and she sits on the edge of your bed.

Lizzie: Yeah, you did promise and you fought very well. You did so great Y/N! And I promised too, I promised that before you knew it I would be right here after your surgery, telling you how well you did.

She leans in a places a quick kiss on your lips. Then your parents and sister come closer and you all talk for a little while before you start to feel really tired again(the anesthesia still hasn't worn off) and ask for some time to rest.
