Stuck for eternity (Jasper Hale)

chapter 40

Daphne's pov

As the baby was destroying Bella from the inside, Edward, but also the rest of us started loosing hope. We sat in silence, the TV was on but nobody really paid attention, all of us trapped in our own pool of endless thoughts. Bella started shivering so Jacob scooted over closer to her. "Don't do that." Jacob said. "What?" Bella said quietly. "Smile like I'm your favorite person in the world." Jacob answered. "You're one of them." She whimpered as she clutched his hand tighter. "It feels complete when you're here Jake." She finished. Suddenly she rushed up to throw up, but nothing had come out considering that she hadn't ate in a while. "We need to find a way to get some food into her system." I said. "If only I could see the fetus..." Alice started. "The baby." Rose corrected. "Maybe I could figure out what it wants." Alice finished. "I think he might be right." I told Edward. "Yeah..." Edward answered. "Jacob just had an idea." Edward said. "It wasn't an idea, it was a snide comment." Jacob said. "What were you thinking?" Carlisle asked. "That it's probably looking for someone to sink it's teeth into." Jacob said. "He's thirsty." Bella said. "If it's craving it's not gonna want animal blood." Edward said. "I have some 0 negative laid aside for Bella." Carlisle said and walked out of the room. I noticed Jasper getting flustered. "Let's take a walk." I said to him. Emmet soon followed. 

I watched the situation through the eyes of the ones remaining in the house. "What's going on?" Emmet asked. "She likes it, the blood. Her pulse, it's stronger, its working!" I exclaimed. Everybody felt relieved.

The following day, Bella called Charlie. He was tense and wanted to see her, but we all knew he couldn't. I suddenly heard something. "Doll, what's wrong?" Jasper asked worriedly. "The baby, I...I can hear his thoughts. He likes the sound of their voices." I said with a smile. "I don't understand why, but he doesn't seem to be like us, he's more like Bella." I said. Jasper hugged me tight. 

The blood was running out, and we were getting weaker by the second, we needed to feed. "You go with them." I told Jasper. "No, you go, you're the most valuable asset here, your  power must be charged if we're gonna stand any chance." Jasper said. "But what if they attack, what if you get hur..." Jasper cut me off with a kiss. "We'll be fine, we can do this." He said. "I love you." I said. "I love you more." He said.

The night came by quicker than we'd hoped. They were coming, and unlike us, they were up to their full strengths, and were ready to fight. Jake tried to distract them, but they noticed us. As they were nearing on us I felt fear. But I did as said. I was to run and feed, no matter what happened to them I must complete this.

"It's the baby, it's coming." I exclaimed. Carlisle immediately phoned home. We started running like hell. "Carlisle, she's here. They got her out!" I shouted to him. But Bella was not ok.

The wolves attacked. Edward, Alice and Jasper were severely outnumbered. But not for long. As I joined the fight I could feel the power rising, it was overwhelming me. I needed to let it out. I spread my arms out and immediately vines started growing and wrapped themselves around the two Wolves that came onto me. "Enough!" I boomed. The wolves started twiching from the lack of air. "Stop! If you kill her you kill me!" Jacob said as he shifted. He had an intense stare down with Sam. "Jacob imprinted." Edward and I said. "They can't harm her." Edward said. "Whoever the wolf imprints on, they can't be hurt." I said. "It's their most absolute law." Edward said.
