Chapter 8
Hayley's POV
I shut the door behind me and laid on it, sliding slowly to the ground. I kissed him. I actually kissed him. Well, it was kind of the other way around, but still I kissed him back. And he's a complete stranger. I mean, I still don't know his name! That kiss may have felt right in every way possible, but it didn't cover up the fact that I already had a boyfriend. A very loyal, very loving, very awesome boyfriend...who I don't even deserve. I really hate myself right now...
I climbed up to my feet, willing myself th=o stop sulking. Okay. I kissed him. So what? All I have to do now is tell Jake that and everything will be fine. Tell him I didn't feel one thing in that kiss. Not one thing. Wait...then I'd still be lying because I did feel something. Ugh! Shut up!
Walking into the living room, I noticed someone lying on the couch. One of his knees were raised while the other leg hanged over the side of the couch. Curious, I moved around so I could get a look of the stranger. When I did, I just nearly fainted. "Kent?"
Caden's POV
I dug my hands in my pockets and ducked my head low under my hood as I watched them. Where were they going? I wondered as I ducked into a corner when Kandice glanced behind her. She turned back around and I continued to walk forward.
"I...Peter...all right." I heard Jasper whisper to her. So they must be going to where Peter is hidden. If I keep following them, I could find Leonel also. Egan and I had been meaning to speak with him also, since it was obvious Kandice a Jasper were a lost cause.
The tall boy with the brown hair spoke up. "Peter? I hope Hayley's all right. She has to be here somewhere."
Kandice touched his arm soothingly. "Hopefully." I heard her murmur to him.
"Spare change, sir?"
I took a deep intake of air as a homeless man appeared in my field of vision, an empty can in my face. I glanced at him and Jasper's group, then back at the man. "Uh, of course." I dropped a fifty into his can with a smile. "That's all I have. I'm sorry." I told him. It was really all I had with me at the moment. Egan had a source for money, but since I rarely use it, I forget to get more from him. Besides, this man seems to need it more than me.
"Oh! God bless you! Thank you!"
I cringed when he said that. I doubt He'll bless me anymore after what I'd turned to. "Anytime. Have a good night."
"You too. Thank you." He smiled and walked away.
I looked over to where I last saw Jasper's group. They were gone. I hurriedly walked down the street in hopes of catching a glimpse of them, but I could find them anywhere.
There goes my chance to finding the hideout.
Shit.
Hayley's POV
"Kent?"
Just as I thought, Kent's head shot up revealing his mop of blonde hair and met my gaze with his own. He looked so much better than before. It seemed like just a few minutes ago he was pale and nearly dead, but now, I could see his color return. Also, his glow as well.
