Chapter 2

Hayley's POV (Couple of weeks later)

One hit. Two hits. Three-

"Hales! Lock up when you're finished!" I heard Gerald yell out and then the sound of the door shutting close.

I wiped the sweat off my brows leisurely and steadied the large punching bag that was swinging around before me. "Breath." I reminded myself, trying to calm down my breathing. I still need to get a few reps in before I go. But this is the longest I've ever stayed here at the workout center. Never past midnight.

Everyday after I leave my karate class, I go to Gerald's workout center for free, him being a professional boxer. We've known eachother since I was little. He's practically another uncle to me.

I suddenly heard the door crack open. I couldn't see who came in from the spot I was standing from though. Maybe Gerald came back because he forgot something. "Gerald?" I called quietly. When no answer returned, my heart beat picked up. Is someone seriously breaking in? Why break into a workout center? The only thing you'd find is weights and boxing mitts!

I tightened the cuffs of my boxing mitts and sneaked over to the door. My eyes fell on a boy, who was hanging up his belongings on the coat rack beside the door. He had on baggy shorts and tee. He looked maybe eighteen. I couldn't identify the face since his back was turned, but by what he was wearing, I determined he actually wanted to work-out. So this guy just expected to work-out with Gerald knowing about it?

I quietly stepped over to him, then when I was in position, I grabbed him in a tight headlock. "Who are-"

As if it was a natural reflex for him, he broke away and reached over, grabbing the back of my head. In one fluid motion, he flipped me over his head, my back colliding with the ground. I shut my eyes and hissed in pain. Ouch. If the floor wasn't padded up, I would be one hurt girl.

"You're a girl?"

No, duh Sherlock.

I opened my eyes to find gray ones stare back at me. The boy was extremely handsome. He had shaggy blond hair and thin lips. He seemed to give off a weird glow. "Uh..."

"Let me help you up." He said, stretching out an arm towards me. I hesitated for a moment, deciphering whether or not I should trust him. As if reading my mind, he said, "I won't bite." I reluctantly took his hand and he brought me to my feet. "I'm sorry about that. I thought you were a burglar."

My eyes went wide because I had thought the same thing about him. Why would he think that? "I thought you were the burglar!"

He laughed. "Seriously? Gerald gave me the keys to his center. I wondered why it was already unlocked. Some pretty girl was inside."

I blushed at his lame flirtatious comment. He's flirting with me when I have a boyfriend! He shouldn't flirt! "I have a boyfriend." I blurted out.

"No need to defend yourself. I can take rejection just fine." He laughed again, walking over to the boxing ring.

I followed after him. "I'm not defending myself. I seriously do have a boyfriend."

He slipped on some boxing mitts he found under the ring. "Right." He climbed into the ring, then rested his chin on the ropes and stared at me. His eyes raked over my body slowly then back to my face. I remembered I only had on a tank top and really short shorts. Flustered, I crossed my arms across my chest. "I believe you. You're too hot to not have a boyfriend."
