"Why are you really here, Aaron?" I asked, breaking the heavy silence that stood between us.
"I came to apologise..." he started and then cut himself off, "you know what? Screw it. I just wanted to see you, okay? I know I should apologise for what I did that night but truth is I'm not really sorry, even though I apologised right before I kissed you. I'm not sorry, Aria," he said forking his fingers through his hair as he edged away from the door and further into the apartment.
I took an involuntary step back and he stopped mid stride and sighed, my brows knitted in a frown. I kept eye contact with him and didn't say a word. I didn't know what to say.
"Okay, can we just go for a walk or something?" He titled his head, gesturing towards the door, "I guess you're not comfortable being in here with me" he stared intensely at me, pleading.
"And why would I wanna go anywhere with you?" I asked folding my arms against my chest.
"I promise not to kiss you," his lips twitched, forming a smirk, then he shrugged. "Come on." He prodded, "it's just a friendly stroll, we could share a smoke?"
I chuckled at his silly way of trying to convince me. But I was convinced. "Alright, I'll go change." I said as I padded down to my room.
I grabbed my coat on the way out and locked the door. We made our way down the apartment building.
I spotted his car parked up front, he didn't move towards it, instead he led me to the walkway, "we're walking," he indicated.
"So don't you have paintings to work on?" I asked as I took out a stick of cigarette from the pack he offered me.
"As a matter of fact, I do but I'm taking a break. Plus I needed to take care of a few things," he said as we turned to the next street.
He had on a pair of black jeans with a black T-shirt underneath an ash colored overcoat. I tried not to focus on how attractive he looked as I took drags from my cigarette.
"So when did you start painting?" I asked, looking over at him.
He looked back at me and laughed, "is that your best attempt at small talk?" He asked and I scowled at him.
"Alright then, don't answer."
"No, no. I'll tell you" he said and lifted his fingers that held his cigarette, "only if you agree to tell me something about you too."
"Fine" I sighed and rolled my eyes.
"Okay, I started painting when I was in middle school. I did it then to annoy my father," he stated, looking straight ahead. "I did a drawing of me and my mom, I think he got jealous that he wasn't in the drawing, I could see it on his face that he was jealous." He chuckled and continued, "so I made it my mission to always bring home a drawing of me and my mom together, he even told me at one point to get a new hobby and that drawing wasn't a good hobby. I didn't listen to him, I never did. So I brought home one drawing every single day from school, till I got really good at drawing."
"Wow." I said, expelling a breath that came out as a puff of smoke. "That's crazy."
"It is, isn't it?" He asked, "now here I am, kicking some ass with my paintings" he said with a cocky smile. "Okay your turn."
