I'd never felt so much fear for my own life the way I felt looking at the end of the gun barrel pointed at me.

Ronald went from cool and calm to really upset in a flash. He made me promise I wasn't going to scream or try anything funny. It was the first time the cuffs left my hands in god knows how long, so I took my chance to try something.

As I sat there on the floor of the dock, too weak to plead for my own life. My eyes fell to Andrea standing casually by the far end. Her hands crossed around her chest.

I shook my head in disbelief, wondering how my life had become a total mess.

My gaze shifted back and forth from Ronald to Andrea to the gun barrel. "Why?" I cried, really needing to know what I did to deserve all this from them. "Why are you doing this?"

Andrea scoffed, "is this bitch serious right now? You took everything from me! You should be drowning in the bottom of the river if it was left for me."

"No no no, Blondie. We talked about this already. I take her with me far away from you, so you can have the painter all to yourself." Ronald waved his gun in the air.

I sobbed, shaking my head.

"Well, now that Aaron probably hates her after finding out her dirty little secret, he won't mind that she's gone for good." Andrea giggled and hugged Ronald childishly and clapped her hands. "It's perfect."

I stared at them, wary and afraid. I fell right into my own misfortune.

"Don't sit there looking all innocent, you deserve everything you're getting, and more. And guess what." Andrea beamed. "No one is coming to save you." She singsonged.

"Get up. We're leaving." Ronald pulled me to my feet.

I tried to break his hold on me, digging my feet firmly into the ground to stop the movement.

"Get your hands off her Ronald." A voice I wasn't expecting to hear ever again bellowed behind us.

Everyone turned quickly to the source and in a flash, Ronald pointed his gun to the direction of the voice.

Aaron stood by the edge of the dock, he had the other man-who I now knew as Ronald's bodyguard- in his grip, gun pointed at his temple.

I'd never been so relieved to see someone. I let out a shaky breath as I locked eyes with Aaron.

I think in that moment, I fell more in love with him.

"Let her go, or I'll blow his brains out." Aaron said.

Ronald grabbed me quickly and held me against his chest.

Everyone went quiet as the scene turned into a staring contest.

The man Aaron had in his grip raised his hands up. Aaron used him as a shield, Ronald used me as his.

Aaron shook his head as he eyed Ronald and Andrea. "I should have known you two were up to no good."

I could see the rage in his eyes, but I could also see something else. It looked like fear.

"Baby, it's not what you're thinking." Andrea said, stepping forward to meet Aaron.

"Stay back!" Aaron snapped and pointed the gun at her.

She jumped, hands in the air as she stepped back.

Ronald sighed, shaking his head.
"You're a fool to come here, boy." He chuckled behind me, our close proximity caused my the hairs on my neck to stand. "I can see you have a death wish."
