"Yeah, I know, Commander Pixis, my handwriting is terrible" Eva apologized.
It was undeniable, the evidence was conclusive. Eva could not write for shit and she knew it.
"You are going to have to do it again, cadet" the man ordered, while taking a sip from his flask.
"Yes sir!" she agreed, and proceeded to take the report with her to re-do it all together.
As Eva exited Dot Pixis' office, she bumped directly into a certain short, black-haired soldier, that she couldn't be happier to encounter.
Gasps were heard around them, and the soldiers in the vicinity tried to flee the scene as quickly as possible in order not to get caught into Captain Levi's wrath. The temper of Humanity's Strongest Soldier was not to be messed with.
Yet all Eva could do was smile — like an idiot. She was so relieved to see him, alive and well, that she had to refrain from jumping into his arms in the middle of the building full soldiers.
"Careful, brat" was the greeting he chose, still carrying a serious and bored gesture.
"I am so sorry, Captain" she grinned as her eyes met his, revealing the immense happiness they both felt.
"Levi" he corrected sternly.
"But we are not alone" she pointed out. "In fact, we are surrounded by all possible members of the military."
She was right. And he knew it. But the way his name sounded in her voice... it just soothed him.
"And you have a reputation to uphold, Captain" she teased, with a shy smile creeping its way into her face.
"Oh, do I?" Levi played along "what would it be?"
"Cold" she paused for a second. "Scary, even."
"And I'm not?" he arched an eyebrow in disbelieve.
"Not always" she paused. "Not with everybody, at least."
"Fair point" he admitted. "I am glad you are okay brat, it was... an eventful day."
"I am glad you are okay too," she confessed, blushing.
"Were you worried?" he questioned.
"Well, last time I saw you you were leaving for an expedition outside" she ranted, "and since then, the Colossal Titan appeared, the wall was breached, a stampede of titans rioted the town, the wall was sealed and the cannons are still firing to kill the remaining titans. So yeah, I think I have every right to be worried, don't I?"
"I can take care of myself brat" he assured her in a soft tone.
"And so can I, so no need for you to worry neither, then" she defended, remembering what Mikasa had said. "You were saying?"
He shook his head lightly, refusing to engage in an argument with the stubborn girl.
"What were you doing at Pixis' Office?" he demanded.
She didn't want to tell him. It was actually embarrassing. She looked down to avoid his gaze.
"Brat?" he insisted, starting to get worried.
"It's embarrassing, okay? I don't want to tell you" she replied candidly.
"What!?" he seemed to lose his cool, as his mind went to very dark places. She could see it clearly in his eyes, so she was quick to realize her mistake.
"I handed in a report and it was a disaster" she shyly admitted.
"You almost gave me a heart attack!" Levi admitted, releasing a breath he didn't know he was holding.
