'Im doing it.' He thought. Deeks was shaking and was a wreck. He'd gotten off the phone with Nell for the fifth time in an hour.

"It's going to go well, Deeks. Just ke-"

"Don't tell me to keep calm, Nell! Oh god, this is happening. This is actually happening."

Deeks was rambling on and on and was pacing back and forth along the shoreline by the beach.

"Deeks...Deeks...Deeks! You got this. She's going to love it, okay? Jeez, try not to pee your pants while you're with her."

"Okay, okay. Im doing it. I'll call you later!" Deeks hung up and sighed, looking up to the sky.

The sun was setting. It's now or never, he thought. In the corner of his eye, he saw Kensi walking towards him. She wore a plaid shirt and a jacket over it, her hair down, wavy.

His heart pounded furiously now and there was no turning back. Deeks turned towards the open ocean, hoping to get the last few moments of peace and calmness before turning to face his partner, his girlfriend, his entire world.

"Did you call me down here to make me watch the sunset...again?"

Kensi pecked his lips and rested her hands on his chest, which in this case was unfortunate for him. He was so afraid that she would be able to feel his heart pounding out of his chest. He immediately took her hands off his chest and held them tight.

"Well...its my favourite thing to do with you."

"Really? Thats's pretty disapponting..."

"What? No no if course i like...you know but this, this is perfect."

Deeks kissed her forehead and turned to face the ocean. The horizon was beautiful as the sun started to disappear. The surfers sat on their boards, mesmerised by the beauty of the sunset. He tried to find peace inside of him but all he felt was anxiety. It's time.

"Hey, Kens?"

"You love me, don't you?"

"Wh-of course i do."

Kensi squeezed his hands softly as a reassurance for him to go on.

"Good, good. It would be real awkward if you said no because i...I love you so much and i will never stop. I'd do anything for you. I was broken for so long but everything changed when you came. You...changed me for the better and i have never been this happy in my entire life, neither have i ever dreamed i would be this happy."

Tears started to form in both their eyes now. Deeks looked down at their intertwined fingers and chuckled.

"Why are you laughing?" Kensi laughed as she wiped away her tears.

"Well...it's been two years since the romantic speech you made at the ice rink, but we've technically been together for like six years now. And that's enough for me to know that i want to spend the rest of my life with you."

A surge of confidence came over him as he slid his hands into his jacket pocket to pull out a beautiful diamond ring. Kensi covered her mouth to keep from shrieking as she used the other to hold on to Deeks's free hand.

"Deeks..."

"Kensi Marie Blye, Fern, Tracy...you know, whatever tickles your pickle,"

Kensi let out a rather embarrassing giggle at the memory of the first time Deeks said that to her.

"Would you want to spend the rest of your life with me?"

She started to sob as she nodded and pulled him up. Deeks slipped the ring onto her ring finger and pulled her into his chest. She melted into his embrace. It was perfect. Deeks buried her face into the crook of her neck as she did the same as they held each other tight. When they finally pulled away, Deeks cupped her jaw and leaned into and brushed her lips with his before kissing them softly.

"You were right." Kensi whispered when they pulled away.

"About?"

"This, this is perfect."

She smiled as she leaned into his chest and looked out into the horizon which was now dark as night. But the night was still young, and so were they.

"I can't wait for this, Deeks. I finally have someone by my side. Thank you..."

"Neither can I. I love you okay?"

He kissed the top of her head and pulled her closer.

"mmhmm. You better. Or i'll marry Monty instead."
