"You have to come home. She's...she's not herself. Deeks, im looking at her right now and she's got her head on her table...she never does that." Nell said softly to the phone.

Deeks had gone to Washington for five months to train to be an NCIS agent since he finally signed the application papers. It's been four months since he left and Kensi has been dragging herself around ever since. Late night phone calls were all she had to keep in touch with him. It was going to be their first anniversary in two days and Deeks was reluctant in letting Kensi spend it alone. Everyone got a week off because of christmas break and he was able to get a plane ticket back to Los Angeles, arriving on the special day itself.

Kensi got up, and her heart ached when she saw that there was no text message at all. It was a special day. That day, a year ago, she told him he was worth the risk and that she wanted to be with him. Feeling nothing but despair, she reluctantly left the comfort of her bed and went to ops.

Finally landing in Los Angeles, Deeks grabbed his bags and rushed into a cab and was on his way to ops.

"You alright, Kens?" Callen asked as she walked into ops looking gloomier than usual.

"He didn't call last night. I mean, not like he's never not called but today's our anniversary and i...sorry, this is probably boring you." She said as she put her bag down and made her way to the gym. Before she could get out of the bullpen, Nell rushed down the stairs and caught her.

"Hey, i got a surprise for you." Nell said before turning around and facing the doorway.

"Heard it someone's anniversary?!" A voice came from the doorway. Everyone in the bullpen recognised it instantly. The blonde detective walked in, dragging his luggage and stopping when he saw that Kensi had started crying. He walked towards her slowly and gathered her into his arms. Kensi wrapped her arms around him as she burried her face into his neck. Callen, Sam, Eric and Nell looked at each other before heading up to ops to leave the two alone.

"What's this i hear about you not being yourself when i was away?" Deeks asked as he pulled away.

"I...i just felt like that broken person i was before i met you, i-i don't know..." She looked down, embarrassed to be admitting it.

"I didn't know it'd be that bad...Nell told me you came in to ops with swollen eyes, why were you crying?"

"It was nothing."

"Kens..."

"You made me forget about Afghanistan and when...when you left, it all came back" Her voice started to break as she broke into tears.

Without saying another word, Deeks pulled her into his chest.

"You know i'm always gonna be here right? Even if i'm not here, i am. You can call me anytime. Promise me something, Kens?"

"Anything." She said, her voice muffled against his chest.

"Wait for me to come home."

He hugged her tighter as if they were the only two in the mission. Hetty looked down at her two agents, glad that they'd worked out the way she hoped they would. She knew Kensi was strong enough to go through the last month of his training. Hetty couldn't wait to hand Deeks his badge. She'd found her perfect agent and at the same time, she'd found someone for Kensi to finally trust with her life.
