Opening the door with one hand, Deeks places the other on the small of her back as he helps her into her apartment. He'd offered Kensi a ride home after her headache and flu became too much to handle. He lays her down on the couch and proceeds to sit on the floor, back against the couch, knees up to his chest and head resting on a small part of the cushion that supports her legs. After a long, deafening silence, Deeks is the first to speak.

"How'd you think we'd be if we tried harder?" He asks with a voice that came out as a harsh whisper.

"Deeks..."

"If we just, maybe if we just didn't give up so easily. If I didn't let you go so easily maybe-"

"Deeks, i'm really not in the mood for this." Kensi interrupts, letting her arm fall across her face in an attempt to stop the headache and yet another argument. Deeks sighs and drops his head in between his knees and once again, allowing the silence to drown the both of them. Kensi looks over to her partner, and gets up to sit next to him.

"You know why this didn't work out. But we haven't given up, haven't we? Sure we had to break up but, Deeks," she chuckles dryly before sighing and choosing her words carefully. "We still have a shot at this, just not right now. Maybe one day things can get easier for us. Maybe then, we can try harder."

At a loss for words, Deeks simply looks over at her and says the one thing he's been holding in for so long. "I miss you, Kens."

Kensi rests her head on his shoulder, the lightheadedness coming back. "I know you do, Deeks. So do I." She whispers, interlacing their hands together.

"Are you feeling better?" Deeks asks, tilting his head slightly. Kensi nods sleepily, slowly giving in to the sleep that she slowly succumbs to.

"I uh, i better get going then. Do you...do you need me to help you to your room?"

Kensi starts to stand up slowly, so does Deeks. "I'm good." Kensi smiles and follows Deeks as he walks towards the front door.

"I hope you're right." He admits, turning around once more as he steps out of her apartment. "That there's more of this that we just haven't come to yet." He says softly before flashing a quick and sad smile. "Goodnight, Kens." Not wanting to wait for her reply, Deeks walks away and back towards his truck.

It takes a while for her to process the words of her partner, who she was clearly still in love with. "Goodnight, Deeks." She whispers to herself before closing her front door. Deep down, she too could only hope that she was right.
