Asuna's P.O.V.
After I ran away from the scene, tears in my eyes. I found myself at the entrance of the roof. I don't really know how I got there but I figured that maybe after what happened, I had to go somewhere secluded, so that no one could find me. I needed some time to think...about what had just happened...and about me and Kazuto.
I slowly opened the door, which made a loud, creaking noise, indicating how long it had been since it was used--which seemed like a while-- SAOHS was an old, run down school that they basically had to redo to fit the technological advanced way things were now. That included swapping the old desks, tables, whiteboards etc. with stuff like, newer desks, high-functioning projectors, and much more. But some stuff, like doors, that weren't essential to the SAO survivors learning benefits weren't 'updated' to fit the way things were now.
After I closed the ancient door behind me, making sure not to make more noise than i had to, I walked over toward the bench, which was placed beside the fence, but facing the opposite direction, so that if you sat there, you were facing away from the view.
'What am I doing?' I thought to myself, face palming as I made my way toward my seat, my shoes echoing off the cold concrete floor. Even though it was February, it was still pretty chilly. (A/N: I don't know the year round weather of Japan, so sorry, if it's supposed to be like spring in Japan by February...sorry! >.<)
'We've been together...forever' I thought, clutching my bag, like it held the answer to all my problems.
'So why would Kazuto...let her do that?, maybe...they...were they secretly dating?' By this time I was tapping my chin, trying to figure out the answers to these difficult questions.
'No, that wouldn't work out, just recently,I've been staying the night at Kazuto's house. So that would be an issue if they were secretly dating' my thoughts were getting jumbled trying to think about the ways Kazuto and that girl maybe had a connection together.
As I was trying to comprehend and discover what was going on with Kazuto and I, and with me and that girl, and with Kazuto and that girl I realized what this whole fiasco is.
"A...A love...triangle" I said to myself, my eyes were getting lost in the sight of the wind softly blowing the trees' leaves, back and forth. I guess while I was intensely thinking, I got up from my seat and walked over to the fence, looking at the beautiful scenery.
If I had to guess, my hair would be flowing in the wind right about now, and the sun would catch my eyes, making my hazel eyes lighter and my eyelashes more visible. If anyone was around, they would stare in awe at my beauty. But I didn't care what others thought about me. All I cared about was what Kazuto thought.
I felt my throat get tight and my sight was getting blurry. 'Not this again' I thought wiping my tears away. "Come on! Get ahold of yourself!, you were the Lightning flash Asuna. The vice commander of KoB. This should be nothing to you!" I said to myself. But despite this, I felt warm tears fall down my cheek and onto the floor. Inside, I knew that this wasn't nothing to me. In fact, this was everything to me. Kazuto was everything to me. He was the one who taught me what it really meant to live inside a death game. He was the one who showed me laughter, happiness, and...
"Love" I said the last part shakily, I was on the verge of crying...for real. My fingers gripped the fence, but since my fingers were too long, my nails just ended up coming back to palms, digging their way into my flesh.
"That idiot" I said now looking down at the floor and squeezing my eyes shut, making more tears find their way to the concrete. I started thinking about the times Kazuto "Kirito" and I spent inside SAO. Before I met him, during, and after. Those memories were burned into my mind. 'I love him' I thought gripping harder. I felt the pain on my palms but ignored it.
"You're much stronger than me" a voice said inside my head. My eyes opened suddenly. That's what kirito said when we were about to fight that floor boss. He said that, but I didn't think he meant it. He knew that I would be scared...for myself, for the guild, but most of all...for him.
He still cares for me. I know he does. But do I still care for him?
"I...don't know" I said closing my eyes again. I know this shouldn't be such a hard decision. But I'm making it one. I tried clearing my head by doing some breathing techniques. I breathed in and out, trying to keep my cool. I was pretty sure that a teacher or someone would eventually find me before 4th hour, so I had to calm down and maybe make up a story to why I ditched 3rd hour and came up to the roof.
I was just working out a perfect plan when I heard the ancient, creaking door open behind me. I quickly turned around and suddenly regretted it.
Kazuto was standing there with a dazed like expression on his face. 'He didn't know he got here either' I thought still pretty surprised to him finding me here.
"Asuna, I'm so-"
"Don't" is all I said, cutting him off.
"Asuna" he said in a longing like voice.
"I said don't" I said turning away.
"Look, Asuna, I wasn't the one who..." He paused; trying to find the right words to say next.
"I know" I said, my back facing towards him.
"You...you do? Then you know I didn't let her do that to me?" Kazuto said, hope filling his eyes as he stepped closer towards me.
"Yea, I understand now" is all I could say before going into a state of daze myself.
"Asuna?" Kazuto said now walking towards me, worried.
"I understand"
"What do you...?" Kazuto said getting closer.
"She needs you" I said softly. Then, I felt like my emotions had turned around completely. I started smiling as I felt a small tear go down my face.
"What? Asuna are you okay?" He set his warm hand onto my shoulder.
"She needs you. Like how I needed you when we were trapped in SAO" I said. More tears streaming down my face.
"I know how she feels. I know because that's how I used to be before I met you, before I was with you." I said. My tears soaking my face.
"You need to go...go to her....make her happy" I said weakly. I shut my eyes and closed them shut while looking down.
"She needs you...Kazuto. She... s-she-" I felt Kazuto warm, strong arms wrap themselves around me.
'He's hugging me' I thought. Then, millions of different emotions flooded over me as I hid my face into his chest and hugged him back. My arms wrapped around his waist, pulling him closer. His already wrapped around arms were around you neck. I cried into him. I let all my emotions out.
"Asuna" Kazuto said, stroking my hair gently, trying to calm me down. "Asuna, don't worry, don't cry, I'm here. And I will never leave you...ever." He said holding me tighter.
I don't know if I can take this. I finally understand how that girl feels. And I'm determined to make her feel better. But the only way I'm going to do that...
Is to give her Kazuto.
