WHEN THE FOUR WALKED back into the building they all sat in quiet. The five sat in silence. James could feel Wanda staring right at him, he knew that she was worried for him. But he wanted to finish the mission before he worried for himself.
"Well since no one wants to speak up, I will. Wanda and I got nothin' on Donya." James tells the group.
Wanda nods. "No ones talking about her."
"Yeah, it's because Karli is the only one fighting for them," Sam tells the ground.
Bucky sighs.
"And she's not wrong."
Bucky's brows furrow. "What do you mean?"
"For five years, people have been welcomed into countries that have kept them out using barbwire. There was houses and jobs." Sam explained. "Folks were happy to have people around to help rebuild. It wasn't just one community coming together. It was the entire world coming together. And then, boom. Just like that, it goes right back to the way it used to be. To them, at least Karli's doin' something."
Bucky scoffs. "You really think her ends justify her means? Then, she's no different than him," he says pointing at Zemo. "Or anybody else we've fought."
"She's different," James says backing Sam up in the argument. "She's not motivated the same things, Buck."
Zemo walks up towards the four holding up a platter.
"That little girl. What'd she tell you?" James questions.
"Nothing."
James glances at Wanda who seemed two steps ahead.
"He's lying."
"One more time, Zemo." James sternly says. "What did she tell you?"
Zemo sighs. "The funeral is this afternoon."
"You know the Dora's coming for you any minute. In fact, they're probably lurking outside right now. So, keep talking." Bucky says.
"Leaving you to turn on me once we get to Karli. I prefer to keep my leverage."
James hums, he stands to his feet and takes the glass cup, and smashes it in his hand. He ignores the wound he's created and grabs the sharp end of the glass and holds it against Zemo's neck.
