♡ Alaiya's POV: ♡
"Where's what's his face?" my grandma asks about my dad.
"He went to go pick up his mom and sister," she explains and my grandma oh's, faking her interest.
"Can't wait," my grandma says with not an ounce of enthusiasm, and my mom rolls her eyes at her.
The garage is heard open, and my dad soon after walks in with his mom and sister behind him. My mom says that I don't need to help so I walk out and sit next to my grandma. While grandma Rose and Aunt Penny are hugging my mom, my grandma speaks to us four in the living room.
"We call them tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber," she whispers to Roman on the other couch where he and my grandpa are sitting.
He smirks at her outspoken feelings.
"Grandma!" I whisper-scold.
"My bad." She holds her heart. "Bitch and bitchier," she corrects, and my mouth opens at her.
They both walk over to us and we all stand up and hug them with smiles.
"Look at you Alaiya. You're eighteen now?" Grandma Rose asks.
"Twenty-one," I correct and she oh's.
She walks over and hugs my grandma in a fake way while Aunt Penny walks over to me to do the same.
"Alaiya!" she exclaims before pulling away and putting her hands on my shoulder. "I have this cream that'll make your ears smaller in seconds," she gleams.
I look at her blankly.
My ears aren't big, are they?
"And I have a bat that'll kick you to Mexico in seconds too," my grandma matches her enthusiastic tone, and Aunt Penny smiles back at her forcefully.
"Naomi," Aunt Penny says in a fake kind way with her head tilted.
"It's Mrs.Wilson to you," my grandma corrects her with her arms folded.
I can see Aunt Penny resist the urge to rolls her eyes at her. Or kill her. Somebody is going to die today. I just know it.
"I'm surprised it hasn't become Ms yet," Aunt Penny holds her clutch in front of her and fake laughs.
My grandma tilts her head and oh's while still smiling.
"Damien," she calls as she looks at my grandpa and he looks back at her. "Get me my gun," she requests, and my grandpa stands up instantly with an 'okay' but we quickly stop him with a no and our hands held out.
Every single year.
The doorbell rings again and panic comes inside me immediately because I know who that is. My hands begin to quiver and my heart feels like it's running a marathon.
"I'll get it," my mom offers as she walks down the hall to answer the door.
We hear some mumbling and I recognize Ms.Walker's voice right as it travels through my ears.
A couple of minutes later, Carson's mom with her blonde straight hair and sort of wrinkled face walks in, still looking beautiful. She's wearing a nice work-looking dress and has her makeup done pretty naturally.
Carson walks in a second after and looks at everyone until his eyes meet Roman's who's talking to my grandpa.
I'm gonna die.
He sends the scariest glare straight at me which sends a petrified shiver to travel through my spine, and basically all over my body.
Carson says hi to everyone, and my mom hugs her best friend tightly, making a small smile appear on my face at how happy they both look. Ms.Walker is a very sweet lady, but also a huge workaholic. She wasn't there much in Carson's life, though he still loves her with all his being.
