Alaiya's POV:

This Friday:

I put on my dark blue V-neck, long-sleeve with a waist tie chiffon dress since there's a dress code for what you're supposed to wear in the courtroom. Next, I put on black heels and do my makeup naturally with a consistency of a small amount of foundation, concealer, blush, brown eyeshadow, mascara, and nude lipstick. The mascara took a while since my eyelids are still folded from last night's crying so I had to take time curling my lashes. My hair is straightened because I had to focus on something else rather than think about Roman or what I'm going to do today.

Once I'm done, I sniff up my watery eyes and walk to the kitchen.

Someone knocks on the door, and I already know it's my lawyer. She wanted to go over the case yesterday, but Liam said I had to work a full-night shift so I couldn't be home. She said that she'll come today earlier and we'll quickly go over everything.

I open the door, and my eyes land on her largely curled blonde hair with her tall frame as she enters the apartment. She's wearing a professional black dress that outlines her body perfectly and in all, she looks gorgeous like always.

Bethane; although working to be a lawyer, hasn't gotten a degree yet so even though she said she wishes she could help me, she can't but I didn't want her involved with all this anyway.

"Okay, so I got all the information on Carson, and thankfully." She strides in as she sets her folder down. "...I got the traffic picture of when he was driving with you drunk," she affirms, and I'm taken back instantly in response.

I never asked her to do that. All she had to do was argue against the picture he posted and we'd be done. It was a very simple hearing which I made sure of.

"I said I didn't want to go into detail." I fold my arms because I know for a fact I didn't change my mind.

"Alaiya, this is not the time to back out." She shakes her head and opens the next file. "I have everything we need and all you have to do is speak all your truth and we'll win this case."

"I'm not backing out, I told you I didn't want to go through with this," I correct confused.

"Than who paid the payment?" she questions.

Roman.

He did it. I know he did it because he's the one who argued about it.

I rush over and pick up my shattered phone which we don't have to talk about. I try not to get electrocuted while trying to find his name on my phone even though I know I'm going to break all over again after hearing his voice, but I specifically told him not to help me with this.

I let the line go through but no one answers.

That's not a big surprise considering the circumstances, but I try once again.

Roman wouldn't do it. He's not even answering my phone calls. Why would he do that for me then? I did a horrible thing by leaving him at that picnic. He'll never forgive me.

"Where did that payment come from?" I snap my head back towards her.

"Your grandparents," she replies, now more confused by my question, leaving me surprised.
