Alan watched the mass of travelers flock across the border between Indiana and Michigan. It has been a month since his army took Michigan. Kaine's army had launched many counter attacks in an attempt to take Michigan, but with Alan's superior weapons and armor, each wave was beat back with minor casualties on Alan's side. The borders were now stable and people were allowed to settle the new lands.

Alan looked up when he heard helicopter blades and saw a Vertibird heading for the newly built fort. Fort Valhedge was located on the Michigan-Ohio border and was the first line of defense against Kaine's counter assaults. With a two hundred man garrison and heavily fortified walls, it could and had taken the worst counter assaults Kaine could throw at it and its defenders came out as the victors each time. It was, however, incomplete. Its back wall was still being built and its barracks not yet built, forcing the defenders to sleep in tents.

The Vertibird landed just beyond the incomplete wall and Alan made his way to it. This was the last day he would be commander of this fort and the defense of Michigan. He was needed back at the base to see the finishing touches on Project Superbird and the Deathclaws. Alan passed the new commander on his way and gave him a brief nod before climbing aboard the Vertibird.

The trip only took thirty minutes and he was glad to be back on solid ground. He went into the Research Department's building to check up on the Deathclaws. He walked down the halls until he reached the testing area. The first thing he noticed was the large Deathclaw with different horns, showing it was a young Alpha Deathclaw, in crimson armor specially built for Deathclaws. The Deathclaw turned its head to look at him and stared directly into Alan's eyes. They both stared at each other before Alan said, "My name is Alan Smith and may I have the pleasure to know your name?" The Deathclaw nodded and replied, "My name is Drav." Alan smiled and says, "Welcome to the Crimson Legion, Drav." Drav just nodded and went to the rest of the Deathclaws that were currently tearing into a dead Brahmin. Alan turned and left to see the results of Project Superbird.

Once Alan left the building, he went to his bike and took the short drive to the site of Project Superbird. He could see the massive hanger that used to hold spaceships coming into view and couldn't wait to see the end results. He parked out front and walked inside to see a large aircraft with four huge, folded rotors. It had a small runway for planes to launch and land on its top, along with hangers on either side for Vertibirds to take off from. He knew it would be a few years before they had enough men to man this massive aircraft. After a long tour of every floor, Alan left for a much needed rest. As he laid down to sleep, he thought 'Soon we'll bring the shattered remains of our great nation back together and we will show the world that you can't destroy the Land of Free forever.'

Alan awoke the next morning to a cold, wet nose being pressed against his cheek. He opened his eyes to see Sora wagging his tail happily and licking his cheek. After rubbing Sora's head and letting him out, Alan looked over the new reports. It would seem that small skirmishes at broken out on the borders to the south and west. The reports say that it was mostly Raiders and Slavers trying to force their way past the border. He sighed and sent orders out for his army to mass on the southern border. It was time to retake the state of Kentucky and bring it out of the darkness that had swallowed the world.

Within hours, Alan's army had massed on the southern border and he now stared at the Raiders behind their fortified walls. His first task was to reclaim the old fort from Raiders and to get a firm foothold in Kentucky. Alan readied Salvation and yelled the command to advance. His army responded with battle cries as they charged forward toward the fort. The Raiders held firm, but the weak willed Raiders soon lost faith once they saw the tanks that quickly burst from their hiding places. Alan took aim and fired a three round burst into a Raider's skull, causing it to explode in a shower of blood and gore. Alan stopped and checked his clip, only to find he still had armor piercing rounds in his clip. With a shrug of his shoulders he put the clip back in and continued forward. Alan fired another burst into a poor Raider's chest and looked around. He saw Emily sniping from atop of a tank and Justin putting a lot of rounds down range with his golden Mini gun. Chris was firing his 10mm SMG and Rin was using her incinerator to lob flaming death upon the defenders, burning them to death.

Soon they were upon the walls and gate, killing any Raiders left within the fort's courtyard. Alan took out Damnation and Oblivion once he reached the gate. He was gutting any foolish Raider who thought they could take him on in close combat. He notice that Chris was crushing any Raider that got within range and Rin with her flamer was clearing out the buildings one by one. Within thirty minutes the fort was theirs and the Raiders were in full retreat all along the border. Soon reports from the rest of his army came in, reporting that they had taken their objectives and were holding until further orders. Cheers erupted among his troops as their flag was raised high into the sky all along the borders. The battle for Kentucky was just beginning and already they had struck a major blow to the Raiders.
