Alan stared at the convoy of trucks that were carrying the dead back to Indiana. The death toll had been much lower than he had first feared with only 23 dead and 31 wounded. Still, it had been a major blow to the 15th Armored Infantry Core. By chance the 5th Armored Core had only lost those two tanks with three more damaged. New tanks and recruits had swiftly arrived and were ready for combat.

Alan looked down at Liberty, which now rested in a new chest holster along with Damnation. He slowly stroked Liberty's pistol grip and remembered the brave soldier that gave his life to save his. It had not taken him long to fix the damage done to the pistol and he had kept it's battle scared look in honor of it's former owner. Alan had learned that many other soldiers had jumped out of their positions and had held the line. These brave soldiers were rewarded with the Medal of Honor for their bravery.

Alan torn himself out of his thoughts and quickly ordered his troops to secure the borders along side the new 24th Infantry Core that was sent to help secure Kentucky. He got inside of a Humvee and the convoy set out towards the south border. He took a glance beside him and saw a woman in Combat Armor with a 24th Infantry patch on her shoulder. He also notice her slight blush on her face and sighed. It was no secret that he was popular among the female troops.

The convoy rolled smoothly for several hours until the reached the outskirts of a town. Just as the convoy reached the middle of the town, the first Humvee went up in flames as it was hit be a rocket. Alan quickly pulled the female soldier next to him in time for a bullet to smash through the window right where her head use to be and smashed harmlessly into his helmet. He jumped out of the Humvee with Liberty and Damnation out, putting rounds into the attackers' heads. The attackers looked like any normal wastelanders, but Alan noticed their constant shaking, meaning only one thing, these people were cannibals. With a fury that he had only felt when that soldier died, he emptied both guns clips before taking out Oblivion. Like a man possessed, he cleaved through the attackers like they were paper.

Alan slowly calmed his breathing and sheathed his sword. He turned to his troops and said, "Gather everyone in this town and destroy any meat you find. We can't allow cannibalism to thrive here." His troops obeyed without a word and soon the townsfolk was gathered before him. He growled as he saw the constant shaking in all of them. He gave a wordless command to kill them all and he stared unflinching at each gun shot. They destroyed the town soon after and continue their way to the border.

They made it to the border just as the sun was setting and without any more ambushes. They set up firing positions and dug foxholes. Alan had set up his field command center in an old gas station next to a double floored store, which was turned into the field hospital, and a water tower. There he reported the cannibal town and it's destruction. Afterwards he sat down and sighed. It was going to be a very long night, he just knew it.

Around midnight Alan went to the defensive line to check up on how they was holding up. Not five minutes after arriving, the darkness was lit up with mussel flashes and the air filled with gun fire. He quickly took out Salvation and switched to night vision. The whole position quickly returned fire and after a six minute firefight, they forced the attackers into a retreat. He sent out a small recon team to check the bodies and to gather ammo. They came back with several boxes of 10mm rounds and 5.56 rounds along with a wounded Raider. He quickly sent them back to his field command center and await his arrival before leaving the prisoner.

After another hour and no more attacks, Alan returned to his command center. He ordered a nearby soldier to get whatever information he could out of the captured Raider. He then went through all the new reports and smiled when he saw that Kentucky was secured after a few firefights. Shortly afterwards he read a report that Ohio was finally conquered and secured. They were forcing Kaine's forces back with each passing day and soon he will run out of places to run to. He hoped he was there to finally put an end to Kaine's life. No one fights Alan and lives to tell about it.
