"WHAT?! No way!" Jin Ling yelled, running back to the edge over Yunmeng. "I have to go there!"
Jin Ling unsheathed Suihua, and prepared to get on it to fly to Yunmeng. A hand soon grabbed his wrist.
"A-Ling, you can't! If you go down there, you'll be banished instantly!" Wei Wuxian called.
"But... but.. Uncle Jiang..." Jin Ling said.
"There's always a later time you can go back to Lotus Pier. I'm doing this for you, A-Ling." Wei Wuxian replied.
Jin Ling looked at Wei Wuxian, and looked down at Yunmeng. Suddenly, he threw his arm from Wei Wuxian's release before flying down.
"JIN RULAN! GET BACK HERE!" Wei Wuxian called.
"Don't worry, Senior Wei! I won't interfere with quote on quote mortal affairs!" Jin Ling yelled back.
Jin Ling swiftly rode Suihua and descended to Lotus Pier. He jumped off Suihua after reaching the ground. Even though the invasion had finished just hours ago, there was not a single body within Lotus Pier's borders. It seemed as if there was no invasion, as if Jiang Cheng and the Yunmeng Jiang Sect just abandoned Lotus Pier. Jin Ling looked around, and realized that he had landed at the Drill Ground. He quickly started running in an attempt to try to finding Jiang Cheng, running past the archery targets. Suddenly, a voice called from behind him.
"Jin Ling, did you forget everything I taught you the other day? You need to expand your chest more and bend you knees! You never listen!" it said.
Jin Ling immediately turned to see Jiang Cheng mentoring a fourteen year old Jin Ling.
"It was just a small slip..." the 14 year-old Jin Ling replied.
Jin Ling smiled lightly. His uncle had always been strict on him. Sometimes Jin Ling found this to be annoying, but he knew that it was just Jiang Cheng wanted the best for Jin Ling. Suddenly, Jiang Cheng and past Jin Ling started to fade away. Jin Ling lost his smile, and continued to walk towards the main building. He touched the wood pillars with the Yunmeng Jiang Sect's signature lotus emblem engraved on it. He entered the empty main hall, and looked around.
*start flashback*
"Where have you been this time? Jin Ling, how many times do I have to tell you to focus on practicing cultivation!" Jiang Cheng yelled.
"Ah... you shouldn't be so harsh on A-Ling. He's just a child." Jin Guangyao replied, trying to ease Jiang Cheng's temper.
"He's like 14 years old now! Still a child?!" Jiang Cheng yelled back.
*end flashback*
"A-Ling..." Jin Ling heard Jiang Cheng's voice behind him.
Jin Ling immediately turned, expecting to see Jiang Cheng, but only was met by the silence of the hall. He frowned slightly. Suddenly, he heard footsteps beside him. Jin Ling unsheathed Suihua slightly, only to see Wei Wuxian emerging.
"A-Ling..." Wei Wuxian stood beside him. "Jiang Cheng has most likely already been taken by Li Yao's men."
Jin Ling re-sheathed Suihua and clenched his fist. Wei Wuxian patted Jin Ling's head softly. Jin Ling gasped slightly and looked up to his senior.
"Don't worry, we will find him sooner or later." Wei Wuxian assured with a soft smile.
Jin Ling suddenly strongly hugged Wei Wuxian, digging his face in Wei Wuxian's chest. "Senior Wei, what if we never find him... what if-"
"Don't worry A-Ling... we will." Wei Wuxian replied, softly patting Jin Ling's hair.
