After entering the mountain, Sizhui looked around. Throughout the perimeter of the chamber, there was ice everywhere. However, Sizhui did not find it cold at all. It seemed that since he is a native Gusu Lan Sect disciple, he won't feel anything inside. Sizhui looked right to see an ice platform. On top of it was a white guqin. Although Sizhui had never learned how to play a guqin, he still knew some basic chords from his adoptive father, Hanguang-Jun. Sizhui walked over to the icy platform and saw some engravings on the guqin.
Hmm... this guqin clearly has ancestral Gusu Lan sect markings on it. Sizhui thought. It should belong to a Lan ancestor.
Sizhui walked by the platform and sat on the ice floor. He put his fingers on the strings of the guqin and played a simple chord. Suddenly, he saw spiritual energy flow out of the guqin and towards the middle of the chamber. The spiritual energy seemed to be forming a person.
Inquiry? Sizhui thought. Who is this person?
Sizhui walked towards the person to get a closer view. As some time went on, the person became more visible. Sizhui was able to see the cloud motif headband and Lan sect robes.
"Hello, Lan Yuan." the person said.
"Hello senior." Sizhui replied, bowing down. "Disciple dares to ask who you are?"
"Lan Yuan, I am Lan Yi." the person informed.
"Wait! That means you are the one who-" Sizhui exclaimed.
"Very well, Lan Yuan." Lan Yi explained. "If you remember from your studies, I am the creator of the Chord Assassination Technique."
"It's an honor to meet you, senior" Lan Yuan said, bowing down once more.
"No need to be so formal." Lan Yi said, smiling. "Lan Yuan, do you know why Lan Qiren put you here?"
"Yes, senior." Sizhui answered, "I am being secluded for 5 months as punishment."
"Well, Lan Yuan, you're wrong." Lan Yi informed. "Lan Qiren did not put you here just for punishment. He wants you to learn the power of guqin."
"Well, whatever task Master Lan Qiren wants me to do, I am happy to do." Sizhui said.
"Very well, Lan Yuan." Lan Yi said. "Take a seat, and I'll teach you."
