Rosa stared at her niece contemplatingly. She had wanted to ask Amaryllis if she had ever met a person at her uni who is a Stewart. According to her investigations before, the daughter is attending the same university. If Amaryllis had met her, Rosa thought of revealing the secret she'd kept for years, however, after seeing her break down like this, maybe it's better not to talk about the real cause of her parents' death just yet...
She sighed as an interesting memory came up. Truthfully, she thought it might be better for Amaryllis and Ivor not to know about what happened, but her decision was shaken when she coincidentally heard a conversation in the CEO's office months prior.
"...If I were you, I wouldn't trust the Stewart company so much."
"And you're telling me this because..?" The boss' low and calm voice scratched at Rosa's ears. She can't believe she has to listen to his annoying voice a little longer today. If the other party didn't mention the Stewart company, she would have plugged her ears by now.
"You don't have to look at me like that. It's just a friendly advice from a businessman to a fellow businessman."
But what about the Stewart company..? What does the person know about the Stewarts that made him say that..?
"Oh..? However, I don't feel like doing anything. Afterall, it's not me to bend to a kid's tantrum for such a boring reason."
Rosa rolled her eyes. Yeah. He's a psycho with a drive for weird entertainment.
The other person laughed seemingly unaffected but his words didn't match his initial lightheartedness. "You're really getting on my nerves..."
The hair on her nape stood on ends at the visitor's response. What was that..? How can someone say that with such a gentle voice while managing to make it sound like a threat?
It must be true... Birds of the same feather do flock together.
"But well... I just find it ridiculous to see how worms can be so arrogant despite wriggling in the dirt."
The visitor's additional words sounded quite right to Rosa. The Stewarts have become greedier and are still so big-headed that they foolishly offended a person of power.
Which is actually good news. Maybe this time, Amaryllis' parents will finally have the justice they deserve..
"I would have let it go, but their daughter caused me quite a-" He abruptly paused, slightly cocking his head to the right before fully turning to the door, looking straight at Rosa."...huge setback- Hmm?"
Shit!
She immediately sidestepped from the egress as she held her chest in fright. Her heart almost dropped! Does the bastard have eyes behind his head or something?
"Looks like you have another visitor. I better end it here. We don't want the lady to get tired from waiting and leave... Do we now?"
He even managed to discern her gender from that distance!? Rosa fixed her posture and stood by the side as calmly as she could when she heard footsteps approaching the door.
The young man strode out with a pleasant expression on his face. Fortunately, he didn't seem bothered that she was eavesdropping. He even greeted her politely before leaving the building.
When she entered the office, the CEO was glaring daggers at the door. Oh shit...
"Miss Rosa... Is eavesdropping part of your job?"
She cleared her throat before answering. "I apologize. I didn't mean to do that this time. It won't happen-"
"Enough. I don't want to hear your excuses..." His eyes shifted to her frozen figure, pausing midway as he took in her attire. "Miss Rosa," He began again, disapproval evident in his tone.
