"Is it true that you really fainted or were you only trying to attract attention? To think that you even involved my partner..." Kayce raised a brow at Amaryllis, who tried to keep her face straight. Now that she knows the reason for his mean behavior, she felt confused. Does he like her so he wants to get her attention? Or is he the same as Chryses...? Chryses, whose only purpose is to gain entertainment out of her misery.

She lowered her eyes to hide the disgust that rose like bile in her throat.

"Shut your mouth. Can't you see how pale she is?" Samantha chided Kayce. She felt disappointed that he didn't plan to follow her advice. Such an idiot... She then glanced at Chryses, who was staring at her unnervingly. Her facade faltered for a moment, and cold sweat invaded her back. How shameful. It was unbecoming of her... She was someone who was used to intimidation, and yet... She had easily lost to Chryses.

She lowered her gaze in submission, feeling foolish yet again. Such a frightening guy... Why didn't she notice that he's not as nice as he looks? She would never have liked him then. She wasted one year chasing after him, only to be humiliated like this. She gritted her teeth, feeling frustrated.

"Are you feeling fine now?" Chryses approached Amaryllis on the bed, who shrank bank, startled.

Samantha gave the woman a reproachful look. Can't she act a little tougher than that?

A snort emanated from Kayce in the background. "Whatever, I only came here to look for Samantha. Mr. Rowland returned our papers a while back."

Samantha turned her body to him and nodded as she took them from Kayce's outstretched hand with a smooth movement... As if she wasn't just cowed a while back. She quickly gathered her wits. There's no room for flaws. She is the heiress of the Bouvier group, which stands tall at the top of the fashion industry. Her face, figure, stance, behavior, and confidence must all be top-notch.

"I'm leaving."

Samantha eyed Kayce, hiding her displeasure beneath a blank mask. Was he really leaving just like that? Is he not concerned about the pale and feeble girl in front of him? Don't tell me he really believes that acting like a douche bag can grab that timid woman's attention? He's an idiot... He's the world's biggest idiot! She directed a side glance to the woman sitting on the bed who looked like she was going to faint a second time. This is bad... Amaryllis' situation wasn't any of her concern, but she felt a little uncomfortable leaving her alone with Chryses. However, she couldn't think of any reasons to stay. Chryses is a smart guy. He'd think something is amiss if she insists on staying by Amaryllis' side. Especially since the two women never had any deep connections with each other.

Amaryllis will have to endure it on her own. She reluctantly turned her back to face the doorway as soon as Kayce opened it. There, she saw a familiar face, standing, stunned as she looked at the people inside the clinic.

Mia raised a brow at the variety of visitors her friend attracted. Chryses was standing by Amaryllis, who looked very pale. Samantha was looking at her as if she was a hero, and Kayce was looking smug and was all too ready to leave as if he had accomplished a job well done. "What's this..? Are you having a tea party, and I'm not invited?"

"Join the tea party. I'm outta here." Kayce stomped off with a shrug, not even looking back. Samantha was the second person to leave, but not before stopping by Mia's side.

"Take care of your friend. I think she's still uncomfortable. She must have eaten something bad." She muttered before sashaying away like a model.

"Oh... That was surprising..." Mia directed a dubious look at the thinning figure of the woman in the hallway.

"You look pale... Do you want a drink?" Chryses spoke again.

"...No." Amaryllis firmly refused as she clutched her stomach. Mia saw this and quickly went to her side, worriedly.

"My god. You're sweating too much! Do you feel cold..? Hot? Does your head hurt..? Do you have a fever?" She asked one after another, cupping the forehead of her friend to check her temperature. "It seems normal-"

"I want to go home." Amaryllis cut her off. "Please, Mia."

Mia directed an awkward look to Chryses, who was blatantly being ignored by her friend. "...Are you sure? Maybe we should wait for the nurse to give you a prescription before leaving?" She cooed.

"I don't need any medicine. I just need to go home..." Amaryllis uttered painfully as she leaned over to her friend, attempting to get out of the bed.

"If she insists on leaving, then I can help you carry her out of here." Chryses offered.

"Oh... Are you sure?" Mia glanced at him then to her friend's face that was awfully distorted with heavy refusal. Fortunately, Amaryllis has her back to him, so the man was unaware of what she looked like at the moment. Tough luck...

"No... Thank you, but I don't need your help. I can walk on my own..." Amaryllis stood up without holding on for support to prove her point, but everyone with eyes can see how much the simple act was taking a toll on her body.

"I'm just... worried you'll suddenly faint along the way. If you want, you can just hold on to my arm-" Chryses tried to reach for her when Amaryllis snapped at him.

"N͎͎o͎! ͎D͎͎o͎͎n͎'͎t͎ ͎t͎͎o͎͎u͎͎c͎͎h͎ ͎m͎͎e͎."

Her eyes gazed at him in surprise, and so did Chryses as his arm fell to his side.

"I told you... I don't need your help..." She uttered before dragging Mia who looked at him ruefully.

Behind them, a watchful, curious gaze of a predator followed. "What... was that..?"
