"Why..?"

"Why..? Whatever do you mean?" Chryses sat down once more as he raised a brow.

"There's a possibility that you'll get disowned-"

"Ah. I will be disowned, but what about it?"

Amaryllis sputtered, her eyes growing wide with disbelief. "What about it..?" She repeated slowly. "You're sure you'll be disowned?"

"It's inevitable."

"..." She pursed her lips and looked at him squarely. A few seconds later, she stood up bravely to approach him or, rather, the contract in his hands, which was now out of her reach as he stretched his arm away from her, probably sensing her objective.

"What are you doing..?" He asked.

Her hands followed the piece of paper, but to no avail, so in defense, she decided to simply say what obviously must be done. "͎L͎͎e͎͎t͎'͎s͎ ͎c͎a͎͎n͎͎c͎͎e͎͎l͎-."

"Ah-ah. I'd like to remind you to mind your words. You only have three warnings. I asked you multiple times a while back, Amaryllis. You missed your chance."

She lifted her head to look at him in exasperation. "That was before I didn't know you'd be disowned!"

"It doesn't matter. You've already signed the contract. It's done."

She frowned, the confusion completely sinking in her mind. Will he really be disowned? From the way he's acting, it seemed as if it's an unrelated matter to him.

"Sir..?"

Amaryllis whipped her head towards the exit at the sound of a monotonous voice. A woman was lingering at the doorway, her eyes looking curiously at the two people inside the living room. When did she arrive..?

"Would you look at that? My secretary's here to hand me some important documents, so why don't you go home for today, Amaryllis?" Chryses ushered the befuddled girl to the doorway with a smile.

"B-but-"

"Indeed, I should remind you before you leave that you don't have anyone to ask for help other than me. You said so yourself. Think about it a little more, then we'll talk again at a later time." His eyes narrowed into tiny crescents as they passed by the door into the hallway that led to the elevator.

"Taylor...-!" She tried to veer towards him, hoping to put some sense in his mind, but he pushed her inside the cramped space, sparing her warning no heed. He's definitely going to use this against her in the future!

"Yes, yes. Take care, Amaryllis." Then he pressed the close button. "Call me later when you get home, okay? If you don't- Well... that's okay, too. I'll know, anyway."

"What..? What do you mean..? Taylor-" The doors closed shut before she could get an answer.

What does he mean he'll know..? How? Could it be...? Did he get people to follow her..? She retreated into the elevator as she rubbed her eyes.

Oh god. What did she get herself into..?

"Sir, this is everything about SG enterprise's chairman. I couldn't find any scandal related to Mrs. Cadell..."

"It's fine. I already have what I need. The only thing left to do is hand it to SG's president."

"...I see." Priscilla looked surprised. Who could have managed to get such information..? Her networks were too afraid to help her with her task this time. Uttering SG's name made them cower, and in the end, they gave her all kinds of excuses before saying she should just give up.
