'This wasn't right' was all his brain could muster up as he stared at the view before him. His sisters were seated at the foot of his bed, staring at Omotoni's unmoving figure, Fatimah, his cousin who is now staying with his mum because of her job was standing beside the doctor, looking through Omotoni's report. His mum was seated on a chair, staring at Omotoni. While he stood, leaning against the wall, arms folded, burning with anger at the whole situation.

"She's really Toni Davies," Zainab squealed, pulling Zaytun's hand, while also trying her best not to touch Omotoni's sleeping form on the bed.

"I can see that, Zainab. Do you think she'll like us?" Zaytun, the more reserved one among his twin sisters asked, fear evident in her voice. And Nasir wasn't liking this one bit.

"Of course she will, we're going to be sisters in-law, so she'll have to like us," Zainab said with confidence.

"Will you guys keep quiet and let the doctor do his job!" Fatimah said sternly. She was older than his twin sisters who were eighteen by two years and always seems to be chastising them. Fortunately for him she was a nurse at Kano here, and had ran over with the doctor the moment he called.

"Is our talking disturbing him from doing his job, nurse Quack?" Zainab questioned with pouted lips. If it was a different situation he would have laughed at what she said but right now he couldn't.

"You'll shut up, Zainab, or you go to your father's house," Ummu said sternly.

"But this is my brother's house," Zainab argued, but soon kept quiet when she received a slap on the back from their mum.

Fatimah smiled when she saw that the two girls had gotten quiet, she rechecked the drip, and felt Omotoni's pulse again. She and the doctor began to peer at some tab, while he taps his feet in impatience.

"Don't you think it'll be better to take her to the hospital," Ummu said for the umpteenth time that day, and this had being the exact reason he didn't want to tell her anything at first.

Everything happening right now was pissing him off, how did it all come to this? His uncle had showed up in his office immediately Omotoni left to discuss his meeting with the Bellos, but instead of what they were supposed to discuss about, his uncle started asking him questions on who the lady that left his office crying was. He had had no choice but to tell his uncle about his short affair with her, and what she came to tell him, since he was his closest friend. He had expected his uncle to be in support of him and agree that the child wasn't his, but the old man had shocked him and asked that he marry Omotoni immediately. How could he marry a woman who was obviously pregnant for another man?

There was no way he was accepting that the child she is carrying belongs to him, but she hadn't look like she was lying. Nasir knew Omotoni wasn't a liar, then could a three month old pregnancy be so flat. His eyes unconsciously roamed her body lying on his bed, she didn't look pregnant to him. She did look exhausted, and thinner, but not pregnant.

"Is she really pregnant?" Nasir asked Dr. Farhan, and wasn't surprised when he heard different sound of gasp from the four ladies in the room.

"Are you doubting her? You think she is lying!" Ummu accused him with anger in her tone. He couldn't blame her though, she didn't know what was going on in his mind, all she could think of now was the fact that she was getting a grandchild.

"I just want to know," He said.

Fatimah smiled. "Yes, brother. She's really pregnant."

"How many months?" He asked again.

"Thirteen weeks, which is approximately three months," Dr. Farhan answered this time, confirming the worst. This could mean that she wasn't lying.

"Since the one who is concerned isn't asking the right questions, I might take up the job," Ummu said in Hausa, sending him a glare. Then she turned to Dr. Farhan and asked him in English. "Is she okay?"
