As he pulled up into his parents' compound, he couldn't take his mind off the fact that Omotoni didn't want to spend time with him. He had always doubted her feelings for him, and he knew she didn't feel the same way as she once did. Nasir could tell that when she had told him she loved him back then, it hadn't being a lie, she had truly loved him, but right now it was too late to accept that love, and it slapped him across the face. He would really like to be able to receive her love again, and this time around, he'd cherish it.

Right now, it's like she didn't care where he went to, or what happened to him. She had a dull response to everything. He had gone home early because he missed her, and needed to see her urgently or he would have lost his mind. And when he got home and saw her standing there, obviously waiting for him, he hadn't known how to deal with the numbers of emotions that filled him up. He had wanted to hug her, kiss her all over, and whisper confessions of emotions he didn't feel for her. All he could do was try to lock them out, and escape from her presence. But he had thought she would also want to spend time with him and ask to come to his mum's place together, but she had practically threw him out eagerly.

He hadn't planned on having dinner at him mum's place initially, all he had wanted to do was to spend time with his wife, holding her, and listen to her talk about nothing in particular. Since when did he just want to talk to Omotoni? This was driving him crazy, and as a result of this, he had blurted out nonsense instead of telling her he wanted to spend time with her, but no man should be this dominated by emotions for his wife. This only reminded him that she wasn't a suitable bride for him, the only reason she had this sort of reaction on him was because of who she was. Her reputation preceded her, men had claimed to not be able to resist her, how could he?

Nasir hopped out of his car, and headed for the main door. The door was opened immediately he pressed the doorbell by Zainab, her face filled up with surprise as she saw him and immediately began to look behind him. Nasir wondered what she was looking for.

"Salam Alaykum, Brother," she greeted. And stretched to look behind him. "Where is Aunt Toni?"

Nasir frowned his face. "Walaykum Salam. Omotoni is at home, now excuse me."

He left her standing at the door as he walked into the sitting room to find Zaytun watching a movie. Didn't they have anything better to do? He would have asked them this, but he didn't have such strength today.

Zaytun also greeted him, and asked the same question Zainab had asked, but he ignored her question also and instead asked one of his. "Where is Ummu and Fatimah?"

"Ummu is inside the kitchen, and Fatimah has a night shift at the hospital," Zaytun explained. And the instance she was done explaining Ummu came out of the kitchen.

"A Salam Alaykum, Ummu," Nasir greeted.

Ummu stared at him with wonder, then looked behind him also. Nasir wished fervently she wouldn't ask him about Omotoni like his sisters' had done. "Walaykum A Salam, Nasir. Where is your wife?"

Nasir nearly rolled his eyes but he stopped himself before he could. "She is at home, Ummu."

"Then what are you doing here?" She asked, not even bothering to offer him a seat.

Nasir sat himself at the dining table. "I'm here because I am hungry and need to eat, so will you please give me food, Ummu."

Ummu folded her arms, a stern look settling on her face. Nasir could already tell that whatever was coming wasn't good. "Have you finished eating the one your wife prepared?"

Nasir scoffed out loud. Like who told his mum Omotoni prepares his meals? He wouldn't let her do such tasking job, and moreover she didn't look like the type of wife that would stay up in the kitchen to cook for a husband. "There is definitely food at home, Ummu, and it wasn't cooked by my wife. I just want to have a taste of something different from the maid's cooking."
