She stretched her arms out, reaching for the warm body she knew she had being cuddled up to all night, but found nothing, had it all being a dream then? She could have sworn she slept in Nasir's arms, even though she didn't like the idea of it. Toni sniffed, her nose picking up a familiar smell in the air as she opened her eyes slowly to bright sunlight shining into Nasir's room through the window. She sat up straight on the bed and turned her eyes on the tray sitting comfortably on the side table. She picked up the cup on it and looked at the content."It's ginger tea." She heard a very annoying voice say, confirming to her that they had indeed spent the night on the same bed.
"Thank you, captain obvious," she snapped, looking up to see him seated on the couch shirtless with a newspaper in hand. Her mouth watered at the sight of him, she wondered if this was the heartache she would be waking up to every morning from now on and decided she wouldn't survive it.
Nasir dropped the newspaper in his hand and studied her, she ignored his scrutiny and took a sip of the ginger tea. She had always liked the taste on her lips, it always felt refreshing. She soon made to get off the bed, urgently needing to pee.
"Do you need something?" Nasir asked her, but she ignored him. She didn't buy the whole idea of him starting to care, and she didn't need it either. "Do you need to throw up or something?"
Toni stopped in her tracks and threw him a glare. "I unlike every other pregnant women out there have no form of nausea, I didn't even throw up in the first few weeks of my pregnancy, why would I now?"
She didn't bother to listen to what he had to say next as she found her way to the adjoining bathroom which she found out yesterday was the door to her right. She got in and did her morning business, once she was done, she moved towards the mirror to have a look at herself. And oh boy, she looked tired. Her white fox lox was piled up on top of her head, and the blue shirt she was wearing looked like it was swallowing her. Her eyes looked shrunken for some reason, and she knew it had to be because of all the crying she has being doing lately. This heartbreak wasn't for her, and she knew there was more to come because Nasir wouldn't change from being the bastard he was.
She placed her hand on her tummy, and rubbed it lightly. "Mummy is doing all this for you, just be good and strong for her, okay." She had grown the weird habit of talking to her baby whenever she was alone, she decided she'd go out of the bathroom before she become even more crazy than she was.
Toni walked out the bathroom after some minutes to find her phone ringing loudly, and Nasir peering over the phone with an angry look on his face. She walked over and picked up her phone to see that it was Max on the call.
"Hey, Max," she called out once she had picked up.
"Hello, Toni," Max said from the other line. Toni smiled at the way he called her name, he was the only white person to ever get the correct pronouciation of her name. "How have you being? Do you think you're up for some discussion?"
Knowing this was going to be a long one, she walked over to the bed and sat down on it, still ignoring Nasir who was staring daggers into her. "Yes, I have some important stuffs to let you know too."
"Important stuffs like the day you're coming back to New York and I'd finally be able to stop making up excuses for all the producers out there who need Toni Davies," Max sassed.
"About that, I don't think I'm coming to New York anytime soon," she managed to say.
"Okay, when do you plan on coming back?"
"I don't know." She ran her hand through her hair. "Maybe never, Max."
"What? What about all the jobs I've being putting off for your return?"
