Emery's POV

Zara left a while ago because she had to do something. It's been two hours and I still haven't heard anything. I had my head in my hands hoping I got some news and that they were good.

"Family of Zara Sanchez," a doctor said.

I stood up from my seat and walked up to him.

"That's me," I said.

"Hi, I'm your sister's doctor," he said.

Just get to the point already.

"Is she ok?" I asked.

He looks at me but doesn't say anything.

"I'll take you to her room," he said.

We walked down the hall and stopped in front of a door which is probably Rain's room.

"Your sister has cancer," he says.

Did I hear him right, my little sister has cancer. It felt like the whole world stopped for a min.

"Is she going to make it?" I asked with tears running down my face.

"We don't know yet but we have to get her into chemotherapy as soon as possible," he said, "it's going to be expensive".

I don't care how much it is, I will find a way to make money if it means to keep my sister alive.

"Ok, when does she start?" I ask.

"First thing tomorrow," he said.

"Will she be able to come home?" I asked.

"Unfortunately she won't, she would have to be here under watch," he said

"Can I see her?" I ask.

He nodded his head and walked away. I wiped my tears and walked into the room. I look at her in the bed, she looks so pale and fragile. I hope she gets better. I sat in the chair beside the bed and placed my hand in hers.

"Emery" I hear Rain's voice.

I stand up and put my hand on her face.

"How are you feeling?" I asked.

"Like shit," she says.

There's my Rain, she has no filter.

"Emery" Zara said, "how are you going to pay for the treatment," she asked.

"Don't worry, I have money saved up," I said.

"Enough money for the treatment, cause it's expensive," she asked.

"Yes," I said

No, I said I'm my head.

"Get some rest ok, I'm going to go back to the house and get some things," I  said.

"Ok, I love you," she said.

"I love you too," I said.

I kissed Rain on the forehead and walked out of the room. I walked to the closest bus station since I didn't have a car. The bus pulled up and I got in, taking a seat next to the window.

I can't believe my little sister has cancer. The treatment and hospital bills are going to be expensive. I need to find a way to make more money as soon as possible.

They pulled up to the stop, I realized it's my stop. I got off the bus and walked to my house. I walked into the house and I heard something moving from the kitchen, I know it's my mom. I place my bag on the couch and walk into the kitchen, my mom is probably looking through the cabinet trying to find the money.

"You're not going to find anything," I said and walked upstairs to Rain's room.

I went to Raina's closet and grabbed a backpack and threw it on the bed. I hear footsteps coming upstairs, I know my mom is going to start arguing with me. I grabbed some clothes from the closet and threw them on the bed.

"Where's your sister?" I hear mom ask.

Like she would care, all she does is go out and do drugs and never comes home.

"None of your Business," I said.

I fold the clothes and stuff them in the backpack. I grabbed the bag and walked past my mom. I went into the restroom and put her hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, and lotion in the bag.

"She's my daughter, I should know where she's at," my mom said standing in front of the restroom.

Did this woman just say that?

"No, you shouldn't know," I said, walking past her again.

I walked into Rain's room again and grabbed her notebook and pen and threw it in the bag. I grabbed the book that was on her bed and threw it in the bag.

"And why is that?" my mom said standing in the doorway.

I ignored her and walked to my room, I placed Rain's bag on my bed and went to my closet. I grabbed a bag and started shoving some clothes into the bag. I grabbed the box of money I have in the back of my closet and put it in the bag.  I walked back to the restroom and shoveled my hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, and lotion into my bag.

I walked back to my room and saw my mom on the end of my bed. I ignored her and grabbed Rain's bag and walked down the stairs as fast as I could. I can hear my mom's footsteps behind me.

"Emery," my mom said.

"What," I said.

I grabbed my other bag from the couch and walked towards the door.

"Why are you the backing bags?" she asked.

If she wants to know she should know.

"Because your daughter has cancer and has to stay in the hospital, "I said.

"What?" she said.

She looked hurt, her eyes started to get watery.

"Can I see her?" she asked.

"No," I said, opening the door.

"Please, Emery," she said.

She can beg as much as she wants but I'm not going to let her.

"After everything you put us through, you think I'm going to let you see her," I said.

"Please Emery. I'm sorry" she said.

"It's too late for sorry," I said.

I slapped the door and walked back to the bus stop. Right, when I got there the bus pulled up. I got in and paid and sat down next to the window. I looked out the window watching the building pass by.
