Chapter 20

Emery's POV

Me and Zane walked out English and made our way to the parking lot.

"So what are you doing now?"I asked.

"I have to go to lunch with my brother,"He said rolling his eyes.

"You don't sound as happy,"I said.

"He's my half brother and we don't really get along," he said.

"If you guys don't get along, why are you guys going to lunch?" I asked.

"Well our mom passed away and before she passed she had told us that she wanted me and him to have lunch at least once a week. Then once me and him have are own family's we get are families together once a week for a family barbecue" he said

"Ohh, I'm sorry" I said.

"It's ok, do you have any siblings?"He asked.

"Yeah, I only have a younger sister,"I said.

"Do you guys get along?" he asked.

"Yeah, it's always been me and her for a couple of years,"I said.

"Let me guys, your parents weren't really involved with you and her"he said l.

"Yeah, something like that,"I said.

I can't believe I'm telling Zane about this even though I met him like 3 hours ago. I never even talk to Zara about this.

"Well this is my car"he said.

I looked at his car and it was a red Dodge Challenger.

"Wow, nice car" I said.

"Thanks, anyway see you next week"He said, waking to the driver side.

"See ya," I said, walking to my car.

Once I got in my call, I put my bag on the seat and pulled my phone out and called Rain.

"Hello" Rain said.

"Hey, I just got out of class. I'm on my way to the hospital" I said.

"Ok, can you get me and Ciara food please"Rain asked.

"Yes, what do you guys want?"I asked.

"I don't know,"she said.

"How about Olive Garden" I asked.

"Ohhh yes" she said.

"Ok text me what you guys want"I said.

"Ok, bye love you" rain said.

"Love you too"I said as I hung up.

After calling and placing my order I parked the car in the Olive Garden parking and got off. I walked inside and saw someone behind the counter.

"Hi, home may I help you" the girl asked.

"I'm here for a pick up," I said.

"Name please" she asked.

"Emery," I said.

"Ok, I will be right back"she said and walked away.

I looked around the restaurant and my eyes landed on the last person I expected to see today. Xavier was sitting at a table and talking to someone but I couldn't see because the back of their head was facing me.Xavier had made eye contact with me but I broke eye contact cause the girl came back.

"Here's your food" the girls said, handing me my two brown bags.

"Thank you,"I said, taking the bags into my hand.

As I turned around I looked back to where Xavier was but didn't see him,That was weird. I walked to the door using my back to open it and walked to my car. Once I got to my door I couldn't open cause I had the bags in my hand.

"Do you need help" and right away I knew it was Xavier.

I turned my head and he was standing there with his hands in his pockets.

"Yes please" I said.

Xavier walked over taking the bag from my hand, his hand touched mine and I felt sparks. I don't why I felt that but I did.

I opened the door and tried to get the bag from him but he pulled back.

"Get in the car and I'll give you the bags,"He said.

I got in the car and he handed me the bag. I placed the bag on the passenger seat and turned back to Xavier. He was resting one of his arms on the car roof and he looked good doing it.

"Uhh thanks" I said.

"No problem" he said "is the food for you and your sister"he asked.

"Uh yea, what about you. Who were you having lunch with"I asked.

I know it's not any of my business but he asked if the food was for me and my sister so I just had to ask him who he was having lunch with.

"Just with my brother," he said.

He has a brother, I would have never thought that.

"You have a brother" I asked.

"Yea but that doesn't matter" he said.

Well ok then.

"Any see you tomorrow" he said and started to walk away.

Wait what?.

"What do you mean to see you tomorrow?" I asked.

"Well isn't Zara picking you up tomorrow" he asked.

"Yes, but she didn't tell me what we're doing tomorrow," I said.

He chuckles looking at the floor and then looks back up at me with a smirk on his face.

"We're all going to a house party," he said and walked away.

I closed the door to my car and watched him walk back inside.I would why Zara just didn't tell me about Friday. She probably thought I wouldn't go.

"I'm here with the food" I said walking into the room.

I looked and saw Rain sitting on a chair looking at a hand mirror and Ciara next to her. I placed the bags on the table and went to her.

"You look beautiful," I said, touching her head.

"I didn't think I would look good bald but I look pretty damn good"Rain said.

"You look amazing,"Ciara said.

"I know right,"Rain said, pretending to move her hair.

The rest of the day we ate and laughed, I can't wait till Rain comes back home. That reminds me I haven't told her about mom. I don't really know how to tell her or how she will react.
