Flashing forward to the scene, the two gawked disbelievingly as Billie staggered to her feet with a slight limp, staring up at Damon in the window above defiantly. "You ever think that maybe, I don't want your goddamn help!"

He laughed with a shake of his head. "Why are you so scared to have a real conversation, huh? For once in your life, could you just be honest? Is that too much to ask for?" Damon gestured wildly through the window down at her.

Stefan looked between the shattered pane above and the shards of glass littering the small bushes and grass at the side of the house. "Billie, did you just..."

Caroline'd had enough of the bickering and stepped forward, not allowing the younger Salvatore to finish his obvious observation. "That's enough! What the hell is going on here?"

The two stood silent, glaring at one another from their different heights, temporarily silenced by Caroline's question as neither wanted to explain what happened.

Trying to straighten up her leg, Billie flinched deeply, realising her leg was bleeding from a cut caused by her fall onto glass, but didn't comment on it.

Damon suddenly jumped out of the window, landing close enough to Billie that she started backing up nervously. "You're making a big deal out of nothing..." She tried, but there wasn't much conviction in her tone.

Stefan looked between the two on edge. Something was bothering Damon and his brother's unpredictability worried him. "Damon." He said quietly, warning the vampire of taking it too far.

He shook his head, not listening and focusing solely on the clairvoyant. Stepping towards her carefully, he spoke with his icy blues latched exclusively to her wide eyes. "I know you, Billie. There's something that you're not telling us. I remember the night Alex died, I remember what you said... so what made you change your mind? Why won't you turn?"

The air was caught in her throat, she could barely breathe through the thick tension around them. She tore her gaze from Damon to look at Caroline and Stefan tentatively. The vampires she held so close to her heart. The ones that would be most hurt by her predicament. She looked to the side, not wanting to meet any of their eyes. "I didn't say that."

Damon frowned at her whispered words, waiting for elaboration. "I didn't say I won't turn... I said I can't."

Her eyes burned with slowly forming tears. She was so afraid. Afraid of losing some of the only people she loved over something she couldn't control. Afraid that they would isolate her more than she could ever isolate herself.

Shuffling away from Damon and towards the front of the house, she breathed deep, trying to get it together as she spoke over her shoulder. There was no use hiding any longer. It did her no good anymore. "Let's go inside... we have a lot to talk about."

Her fingers fidgeted mercilessly in her old, frayed blue jumper. She'd told them everything.

After Caroline had promptly sat her down, noticing her wound as soon as they'd entered the room and stepped out of the fresh air outside, letting a drop of her blood fall into the ready glass of bourbon in Billie's reluctant hand.

The clairvoyant had then explained what happened the night Bonnie lowered the veil for dead supernatural creatures, how Mickey visited her and explained the consequences of becoming a vampiric clairvoyant.

Billie finished speaking and refused to pipe up again, leaving her words to bask in the silence.

A chime sounded into the air and she pulled out her phone, reading Klaus' incoming text.
