Tw: metions of Depression, self-harm, suicide attemt
At ten your soulmate-tattoo would show up. The first word they would say to you would be written down on your wrist until they were said then they disappeared. For most people, those word were "sorry", or "Hey, my name is" , but for Luke that wasn't the case.
His wrist said, "Wait, don't jump!" which was a huge shock for everyone at his tenth birthday party. Back then he thought it meant jumping from a diving platform, but his parents knew that wasn't it.
They became paranoid and forbade Luke to meet new people, they didn't knew. He was homeschooled from then on and wasn't allowed to go out without his parents. At some point he learned about depression and suicide over the internet, but he didn't relate to it for a while.
He made friends with the children of his parents friends: Julie Molina, her best friend Flynn, Reggie Peters, Alex Mercer and his boyfriend Willie Ortega. Luke also learned to play guitar and soon Julie, Reggie, Alex and he started playing together. According to Flynn and Willie they were really good and so they wanted to form a band, but...
when Luke asked his parents they started freaking out. They forbade him to play in front of people out of worry of him becoming famous and hated and depressed because of that. Luke could kind of understand that, but it made him incredibly sad not to be able to fulfil his passion of playing.
That's when his depression started at that point it was seasonal and barely noticeable. It just looked like a loss of Motivation for a couple of days, but a couple of months later Luke was at his breaking point. He completely broke down crying when his parents announced they would be taking away his guitar and not letting him meet the band, so he wouldn't get any ideas.
From that point it only got worse. Luke stopped leaving his room, eating properly and looking out for his hygiene. He was just laying in his bed listening to music or writing texts, it was the only thing he had motivation to do. Sadly after some time he even stopped doing that. The boy would break down crying almost every day, he didn't want to feel pain anymore.
His parents would have gotten him a therapist, but they were to busy fighting about what was best for him to notice.
Then on a Sunday his parents were out to church and Luke had and idea. The time he read about depression, he had also read about self-harm and at this point he had lost hope, so he tried.
After that he didn't stop, but he moved on to his belly and legs, so he could still wear his favorite tank tops. However, had a lot of scars and sometimes passed out from the blood despite that his parents still hadn't noticed.
One day Luke had enough, his parents were out meeting with friends and had locked him in. He climbed through the window and just ran.
Where? The near skyscraper. He wasn't afraid of heights so this was an easy way to end it all.
Bobby was sick of going to meetings with his dad. They were always so boring and he had to behave like Mr. Perfect all the time. Right now the meeting was taking a break and the boy went up to the roof to catch some air (and maybe smoke a bit).
But when Bobby got up to the roof he was met with a horrifying sight. There on the edge of the rooftop was a brunette boy about to jump.
"Wait, don't jump!", Bobby shouted out of instinct. The brunette turned around. "And why wouldn't I?", he remarked in a sarcastic tone. "There has to be something to live for", Bobby said hopeful trying to convince the other boy. "There isn't I don't have friends, my parents always fight over what's best for me and I had to give up my passion", he cried out and the with a voice full of anger added, "All because of this stupid soulmate tattoo, that said I was going to jump" The boy held up his wrist.
"There is nothing there", Bobby said shocked. "what?", the brunette asked with the same surprise. He then looked at his wrist and Bobby did too. "How is this", the boy on the edge started.
"You're my soulmate", both boys realized at the same time.
Then Bobby started smiling. "Things can change now, you don't have that stupid tattoo anymore", he said walking closer to the other boy, who to his surprise replied, "If only it was that easy" Then he leaned over the edge of the tower and whispered, "Goodbye soulmate"
"Goodbye soulmate", Luke whispered. He felt himself falling for a half a second, it felt nice. Then an arm grabbed his waist and pulled him back up. The boy who pulled him up pressed him to his chest sobbing. "Dont scare me like that, I can't loose my soulmate", he cried. "Sorry", Luke mumbled.
"Don't be, just stay with me, please?", the boy whispered tears still running down his face. "I promise", Luke whispered back and smiled. Maybe things could change.
