THE NEXT DAY

Y/N'S POV:

After the trial, we were all mentally and physically exhausted. I think Lisa passed out for the rest of the day and we all basically did the same.

Lauren's week has been pretty busy thanks to me, so she had to catch up on some work stuff. She's sitting on the bed with her back leaned against the headboard, and I'm sprawled out over her legs.

I'm holding my phone over my face, mindlessly scrolling through tiktok. All I can hear is Lauren clacking on her keyboard, and I start getting restless.

"Hey babe?" I whisper.

Nothing in response.

"Hey."

Still nothing.

"Laurennnnnn." I whine for the third time.

She quickly looks up from her computer and has a small smile on her face.

"Oh sorry, I'm working on a thing for the band. What's up?"

"I'm boooored. Can we do something please?" She looks at me sternly, but gives me a smile after I pout.

"We can do something when I'm done, I promise." I nod and she goes back to typing.

I slowly get off of her and make my way to the front of the bed. I sit right beside her and she doesn't seem to notice.

I carefully bring my finger up to her nose...and boop it. She ignores it. I boop it again. No response.

I decide in this moment that I have to boop her even harder. So I do. Boop. Boop. Boop. I boop until I cannot boop anymore.

I boop until she cracks a smile and turns to look at me.

"If you stop you can sit in my lap til I'm done." I give her a hard nod and she opens her lap up for me to sit.

I rest my body against hers and she uses my shoulder as a window to see her laptop. She puts it on my legs and starts typing again. Her body feels so warm and comfortable I could almost....

LAURENS POV:

After about 20 minutes, I notice Y/N hasn't said anything. I slightly nudge her and don't get anything in return.

I chuckle to myself when I realize she fell asleep on me. She's so cute. I kiss her cheek and continue my work, enjoying the silence and not having to worry about whether or not my nose will get booped.

I eventually finish and turn off my computer. I rub Y/N's arm in an attempt to wake her up but it's no use. She must be so tired from everything that's happened. I decide to let her sleep.

I carefully push her off of me and she slumps onto the bed. I slide in next to her and she instinctually wraps her arms around me and find her way to the crook of my neck.

We cuddle and I feel warm with her by my side. I quickly fall asleep with her in my arms and I couldn't be happier.

Y/N'S POV:

I wake up with Lauren holding me and I blush. Even though we've been dating for so long she still never fails to give me butterflies.

"Hey Laur?" She groans in response and I chuckle.

I carefully peel her arms off of me and make my way out of the room without waking her up. I haven't gone outside all day, so I decide to go on a walk.

I say bye to everyone who's up and grab a jacket. I leave when it's still bright out, but about 20 minutes later, it starts to get dark.

I walk to the bridge near our house as it continues to darken. I see a figure out in front of me and get a little weary, considering I'm a woman walking alone at night.

I walk closer and see someone standing at the edge of the bridge. I calm a little when I notice that it's a woman, so she's less likely to brutally murder me.

She doesn't move from the edge, but instead walks closer. I get concerned and start to walk faster towards her. She backs away from the edge and I feel relief wash over me.

I continue to watch her. She starts bolting to the edge and my instincts kick in.

"DON'T JUMP!" I yell.

I run as fast as I can towards her and tackle her to the ground right as she's jumping.

We lay there for a minute, recovering from the tackle. I can hear her sobbing, but I can't make out what she's saying.

I sit up and she does the same. I'm greeted by a blonde haired, green eyed woman with tears running down her face.

She yells something but it was covered by her sobs.

"What?"

"WHY DID YOU DO THAT? YOU SHOULD'VE JUST LET ME DIE." She screams out at me.

This breaks my heart and I immediately grab her and hold her in my arms. We sit there and she sobs into my shoulder for about 5 minutes, until she leans away.

"I'm gonna have to take you to the hospital, okay?" I say in a soothing tone.

"No, please. I don't want anyone to know. Just let me jump I'm begging you." Her eyes are full of sadness and I grip her arms, afraid of her trying to jump again.

I reach for my phone with one arm still on the girl, and look for Christina's contact.

I would've called Lauren but I don't know if she's awake yet and I can't risk it. The phone rings and she picks up almost right away, like she always does.

"Hey."

"Hey, Chris. I need you to pick me up at the bridge right now please."

"Did something happen? Are you alright?"

"Please just hurry."

"I'm on my way."

I hang up and keep gripping this girl, who I realize I never got the name of.

"Hey, what's your name, honey?"

"Maya." She gets out through tears.

"That's a really pretty name." She nods and I rub her arms soothingly.

I keep talking to her, trying to calm her down, when Christina's car pulls up. I consider leaving Maya for a minute so I can explain without her there, but I'm too worried she'll try it again.

I have no choice but to say it all right here. I bring her into the car and shut the door, buckling myself in.

Christina looks at me like I'm crazy, just having brought a random stranger into her car.

"I was walking on the bridge and Maya tried to jump. I saved her. Can you please take us to the hospital?" It takes her a second to process this but all she does is nod and starts driving.

After minutes of silence, she breaks it.

"Y/N, text the groupchat and tell them to meet us there."

"Will do." I say as I hear crying coming from Maya.
