Crush?

LAUREN'S POV:

It's been almost two weeks of Y/N spending almost all her time at the hospital with Maya. The only times I've seen her is briefly at breakfast, when she usually just shoves a bagel in her mouth and leaves, or very late at night when I'm almost asleep.

I know that Maya needs someone right now, but does it have to be my girlfriend?

I feel awful for being jealous, I completely trust Y/N. I just miss her and I don't spend nearly as much time at the hospital as she does.

I'm sitting on the couch mindlessly watching TV when Lisa jumps on the cushion next to me.

"Hey birdbrain, whatcha watching?" I just groan in response as I shrug my shoulders.

"Okay....can I change the channel at least?" I don't respond for a good 30 seconds, so naturally, she resorts to waving her hand in my face.

"KNOCK IT OFF, LISE." I yell loud enough for our neighbors to hear.

I didn't mean to scream that loud, I'm just not in the mood after not seeing Y/N for two weeks.

Lisa flinches and gives me a weird look, a mix between confusion and sadness. I instantly feel bad, but can't make myself apologize, instead just sitting there in silence.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to annoy you." She whispers as she leaves the room.

Pretty soon, Christina comes around the corner and glares at me, which feels like a million daggers in my chest.

"What?" I say, full of worry.

"You just made Lisa cry and you're asking what?" My heart drops as I realize how much of I mistake I made.

"I made her cry?" She nods furiously and points her finger indicated to stand up.

"Go over there and apologize. Don't make me force you." I practically run over to Lisa's room and softly rap on the door waiting for her response.

"Lise? Are you in there?" The sniffles I heard suddenly quiet.

"N-no. She's not." Her voice is shaky, making me feel 10 times worse.

I slowly turn the knob to find a tear stained Lisa with a blanket wrapped over herself. I sit next to her in silence for a minute, having to collect my thoughts.

"I'm sorry. I was just in a really bad mood with this Maya thing and I screamed when I shouldn't have. You weren't annoying me, I was just being insensitive and I'm sorry." She looks up at me from her blanket cave and gives me a smile, a tear falling at the same time.

"It's okay, Lauren. I'm sorry about Maya, I know it must suck that you can't hangout with Y/N as much as you want to." I take a deep breath and work up the courage to tell her something I'm deeply ashamed of.

"Can I say something stupid?" I whisper.

"Laur, practically everything that comes out of your mouth is stupid. But yes, go ahead." I give a quick chuckle and roll my eyes, while continuing.

"I'm really worried that Maya might have a crush on Y/N and then she might get a crush on Maya back and she'll cheat on me because she'll forget how fun I am since she hasn't hung out with me as much." Lisa's mouth drops open as she looks at me like I'm dumb.

"Are you kidding me? That is not going to happen I promise you. I know Dani has already told you this but you have nothing to worry about. Y/N loves you and only you and would never cheat on you. You gotta trust me, okay? Maya does not have a crush on Y/N."

Just as she says this I hear the door open.

Y/N'S POV:

Another day spent at the hospital with Maya. Getting to know her these past two weeks have been so much fun. She's such a good friend and the talks I have with her are the best.

I can't wait for when she's out of the hospital so I can properly introduce her to Lauren.

"Ok, next question" Maya says as we continue our game of truth or dare.

"If you had to fuck anyone in this hospital, who would it be?" She looks at me and bites her lip, which I find a little odd.

"Maya, I have a girlfriend, stupid." I laugh along with her as she playfully punches my arm.

"Well let's just pretend Lauren doesn't exist right now. How does that sound?" I chuckle in response.

"Back to the question. Who would you fuck, Y/N? Be honest."

"Uhh, I have no clue. Who would it be for you?"

She opens her mouth to say something when the doctor opens the door.

"So, good news. The psychiatrist has deemed it okay for you to leave today. Do you have any family that you want to call?"

"I have an aunt, but she lives upstate and has work. It'll take her at least a week to get here, maybe more."

"Well, give her a call, but do you have anyone you could stay with short term?" She shakes her head, but the answer seems very clear to me.

"She can stay with me! One week will definitely be no trouble." Her eyes widen as she smiles at me.

"REALLY? THANK YOU, Y/N!" She says as she places her hand on my thigh.

She doesn't move it after a while, and I'm too embarrassed to ask her to move it.

Pretty soon we get up to get all her stuff packed, and she's in my car on the way to the house.

"So, I can't wait to meet this girlfriend of yours." Maya says as she breaks the silence.

"Me too, she's really awesome, I know you guys will get along." We pull into the driveway and I kick myself as I realize I forgot to give everyone the heads up that Maya's going to be staying here.

I shrug it off, knowing they won't be bothered since it's only a week. We both get her bags and start carrying them to the front door.

LAUREN'S POV:

"Maya does not have a crush on Y/N."

The door opens and we walk out to find Maya, her hands wrapped around Y/N's arm with bags next to them.

"What's going on?" I question.

"Maya needs a place to stay this week, and we have room, so I offered to have her here." My eyes lock onto Maya and hers do the same.

"Lauren, this is Maya, Maya this is Lauren." She slowly walks towards me and I reach my hand out to shake hers.

She grips it very hard and stares me down as we slowly shake hands.

"This is great. Isn't this great Lauren?" Y/N asks happily.

"Mhm. Great."
