LAUREN'S POV:

The party starts in an hour and I'm slowly getting ready in the bathroom. The curling iron heats a piece of my hair into a perfect curl, leaving me satisfied.

I'm halfway done when I hear a knock at the door. Y/N comes in and wraps her arms around my waist.

"Whoah, be careful, Lady. I have a hot metal thing in my hand that you do not wanna get close to." She chuckles as she kisses my neck, sending chills down my spine.

"You look beautiful, Laur." I blush and she smiles, seeing the effect her words have on me.

"Thank you. So do you." She's dressed in ripped jeans with a crop top, her hair and makeup done perfectly.

She thanks me and leaves the room, letting me finish getting ready. I have on a pretty similar outfit, only less revealing.

Once I get out of the bathroom, I see Maya standing with Y/N. She's wearing a casual dress with straightened hair. She actually looks really pretty.

"Maya, you look pretty." I say quietly.

"Thank you, Lauren! So do you." I smile and realize how stupid I was for being jealous.

This girl never did anything wrong. She's a sweet person, my jealousy just made it hard to see that.

Suddenly, Lisa pulls around the corner in sweats and an oversized t-shirt, as well as zebra print crocs.

"Alright, we ready to rock and roll?"

Lisa isn't even going to the party, but she insisted on driving. We all offered to do it but she said something about wanting to act like a dad dropping his daughter off at prom? I don't know, Lisa's weird.

We all pile into the car and are tortured by Lisa playing Jesus songs on repeat.

"Lise, I'm all for this kind of music, but can we please play something else?" Lauren begs from the back seat.

"No, I'm instilling the fear of God in you, so nothing happens at this party." We all roll our eyes and feel relieved when she pulls up to the house.

I try to open the door, but the handles are locked.

"Alright. My time to shine." Lisa says as she clears her throat.

"Stay safe at this party ladies. A couple rules. No drinking, no smoking, and no boys. Well, that won't be hard for you two." She snickers as she points to Y/N and I.

Maya laughs while Y/N chuckles and tells her to shut up.

Lisa finally unlocks the door and we thank her as we pile out.

I walk towards the house holding Y/N's hand, the blaring music entering my ears. I've never been to a real party like this before, I have no idea what to expect.

I can tell Y/N feels the same way as she tightly grips my hand before walking in. I see one of my friends and wave to them.

"I'm gonna go talk to Haley. I'll meet up with you soon, okay?" She nods and gives me a kiss before I walk over to my friend.

"Hey, Laur! What's up? You still in that band?"

"Yeah, posting weekly videos now." She nods in approval and we talk about the band for another five minutes.

I ask her questions about herself and she returns the gesture.

After about 10 minutes of small talk, I excuse myself to go find Y/N.

Y/N'S POV:

I kiss Lauren goodbye and head over to the drinks with Maya. I see four bowls placed on the wooden table and carefully analyze all of them.

I determine that three are some type of alcohol and one is punch. I pour myself a glass of punch, knowing Lauren and Lisa don't want drinking to happen at this party.

Normally, I don't drink, but I've done it a couple times this year. I really care about Lauren, though, and her values are my values.

"Hey, come on, you're not even going to try these drinks?" Maya points in the direction of the alcohol and I shake my head.

"Lauren doesn't want me to drink and I don't really want to either." She nods and the topic of conversation switches.

We begin to talk about hobbies and I ask Maya questions about her life, while she asks about mine.

She gets a text notification and her face drops when she reads it.

"Oh. My aunt can come and get me tomorrow."

"That's great! You must be so excited, starting a new life with your aunt." I give her a hug, to which she gives a weak one back.

"Yeah, well. I was kinda hoping to have more time to do this, but I guess now is better than never." She takes a deep breath and I stand around looking confused.

"What do you mean? Do what?" She looks to the ground and then looks at me.

She quickly leans in and presses her lips against mine, which takes me by surprise.

"What the hell, Maya?" I say as I look around the room.

My heart drops as I see Lauren, staring at us with tears in her eyes.
