Chapter 12: Antoine's Birthday

Cadence's POV

"Antoine, calm down," I told him when he was pacing around, nervous. "No one is gonna judge you, okay?"

"Antoine, trust us. You are anything but ugly." Athena said.

Athena had recently told me she had a crush on Antoine. I mean, Antoine was handsome and kind, I can't blame her even though he might only see her as a friend. Well, that's...

"Stop pacing around, you're gonna be fine and this party is gonna be sick," Valeria said, hyping him up.

"No, I don't care if they judge me. I don't give a fuck." He looked at us. "It's because of..." He stopped suddenly.

"Because?"

I just looked at him curiously.

"Ah, never mind!" He stood up and laughed nervously. "Let's go meet the guests?"

I just looked at the others and I could tell they also wanted to know what was going on with him but we'll just worry about that next time.

"Sure." It was all we could say and got out of his room to meet other guests downstairs. Their house was huge, in their backyard was a pool. Half of the pool was covered with a glass floor so people could use it as a dance floor and a half was used for people who wanted to swim.

Antoine's mom invited half of the students from our school, which was cool with him. Mrs. Archambaeu was actually from here so she had invited her friends also. Antoine's dad did also had a few friends here but wasn't from here.

I could hear guests talking and the sound of the music.

"I honestly can't believe mom still hired a band." Antoine sighed, grabbing a glass of wine from the side table, and continued walking around greeted some guests. I just stayed behind and walked around on my own. I rolled my eyes realizing that Samuel was pretty late.

After minutes of talking to some schoolmates, I couldn't find Samuel anywhere. It was already 6 pm. We got here at 4 o'clock. Knowing that he won't be showing up anytime soon, I just turned around and tried to find Antoine and the others in the house. But a familiar boy caught my attention, talking to his friend Aristria beside him, laughing.

'If Jonathan and Aristria are here, is she also here too?'

I turned around attempting to look for her but, not really looking at where I was going. I tripped and almost fell but an arm quickly caught my waist preventing me from falling. Literally.

I smiled, taking in her familiar green eyes that had always caught my attention since we first met. "Hi."

"Glad I caught you," she laughed. I stood up straight, fixing my dress. She leaned in, bringing her lips close to my ear, whispering. "You look fine in that dress, by the way." Then she took a sip of her wine.

It sent shivers down my spine. I could feel my face reddened at her compliment. I didn't know what to say. Should I compliment her back? She looked so attractive...

"Thank you," I said. She smirked and looked away when she noticed that I was blushing.

"So, where's your date?" She looked around trying to find Samuel in the crowd. I just rolled my eyes and started to walk around maybe I can find Antoine and the others somewhere. She also walked beside me.

"He's late." I sighed.

She chuckled, "That sucks."

I shrugged, "Oh well."
