Allison's Perspective
I felt nervous, but the feeling immediately faded away when I saw my friends walked out of the first bus along with the other campers. I smiled, and they were just shocked and stared at me like they couldn't believe it.
The teachers told them to line up first and wait for the second and third buses to arrive. I took a deep breath when I noticed that Cadence and her friends weren't in the first one. And, when the bus she was in finally arrived, I was kind of excited to see her. It shook me to the core that I told myself maybe camp isn't that bad.
The second bus pulled up, and the first person to come out of it was my mom. She shot me a look and instructed the second batch of campers to get out and fall in line.
I could hear the campers giggling in excitement. When Cadence finally came into view, I just took my time to admire her. She didn't notice me because she was busy talking with Antoine. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun, she was wearing a grey shirt and a dirty white zip-up hoodie. She also wore beige-colored shorts and grey rubber shoes. I wasn't used to seeing her wearing shorts, so I ended up staring...
"You know it's rude to stare, Matthews," Corey laughed beside me, knocking me out of my trance.
I mentally slapped myself, "Right, sorry." Both of us watched as the third bus arrived, and waited for the campers to get out and fall in line.
"Your sister wanted to know if you could be a good leader so, I figured you should take the lead," she said patting my shoulder. She was my upperclassman, my sister's friend, and a member of the SSC.
I nodded, since I'm thinking of joining the SSC next year, this should be a good opportunity to practice.
"Take a deep breath, I know you can do it, Mini-Matthews," she whispered.
I took a deep breath and spoke, "Good morning, Campers, and teachers," Everyone turned their attentions at me and Corey, "Welcome to Camp Into The Woods! You all probably know who we are already, but today, we are one of the camp volunteers who will be assisting you until camp ends," I gave them all a smile, then my eyes immediately went to look for Cadence's. She gave me a smile, she then pursed her lips and looked away.
Then I glanced at Corey, signaling that it was her turn to speak, "My name is Corey, for those who don't know, and this is Allison. I hope you are all looking forward to it as much as we are. Now, are we ready to head to our Cafeteria? Some of you probably didn't have breakfast this morning."
So, we lead them to the cafeteria.
While walking, I asked, "Am I doing fine?"
Corey nodded, "Yes, you are, you don't have to worry."

After breakfast, we were all immediately called by the teachers. We were now currently in the main hall, the teachers were giving a welcoming speech, and my sister too. She was talking about the rules and the dos and don'ts. She also explained that the campers from the other school will be arriving later in the evening because something came up. The rest of us volunteers were just seated behind them. Bored, I looked at the schedule and saw that after all this was finally free time.
Damn, being a volunteer suck, but not really. I can't wait for them to finish their speeches and just run to my friends. My eyes secretly wandered to look for Cadence, but to my surprise, our eyes met. And I swear to God, she smirked and looked away.
She and her friends were at the same table as my friends. I could tell they had fun chatting.
Then here I was, bored to death because I'm a volunteer.
