DEVYN POV
The school bell rang, and I hated that the school day ended so quickly, because I had to meet my father afterwards. Trudging over to my locker, I grabbed everything I needed for the next two days. I used to love skipping school, but now I'd rather be here than be sitting with my father in his meetings. Sierra had already left for the dorm, as I told her I'd be gone for the next two days. Swinging my backpack over my right shoulder, I closed my locker. As I looked to the left, I saw Andrea walking towards me. Her wrist was still bandaged, but in her other hand she was carrying something black. My blazer. I let my body lean against the locker wall as she approached me.
"Hello, Miss Ramos."
"Hi. I brought back your blazer."
"I see. You could've kept it."
"No. I don't want anything from you."
"You know, a 'thank you' wouldn't hurt."
"I didn't ask for you to do anything." She hands me the blazer.
"So you're saying I should've let you bleed out on Bianca's floor?"
"Maybe you should have. Maybe that's what I wanted." Andrea starts to stare at her feet, she looks paler than usual.
"I'll keep that in mind next time." Now she looks up at me, and I can read her eyes. There's a kind of pain in them that leaves me speechless, but I can't quite understand. There's eye bags under her eyes, and she looks tired.
"Hopefully next time, you're not around." She walks away and I want to say something to make her stop. To tell her that there doesn't need to be a next time. Rage flowed through me like lava, because of how frustrated I felt. I didn't understand how she could come and stir up every emotion in me. There was something about her that made me gravitate towards her, even when I did everything in my power to turn away. I was furious that she even considered hurting herself, and I hated that I might not be there to stop her. Looking at the blazer in my hands, I got flashbacks of that night. Clenching my teeth, I threw it into the nearest garbage can and walked out.
On the drive back home, I wondered how my sisters were doing. I was finally going to meet them after so many months apart. We pulled into the driveway and I ran inside when I saw the other cars parked. It meant Sloane and Sage were here. Running all the way up to Sloane's room, I was fueled with excitement, hopefully nobody else saw it. As I entered the room, I saw that nobody was in there. Did she not come?
"Looking for me?" I turned to see her standing in the doorway and I calmed my nerves.
"Uh- no. I think I left something in here from last time." I said as I acted like I was looking around.
"Hmmm. So you're not here to see me?"
"No- I mean it's good to see you sis."
"You're such a brat, come here." Her face broke into a warm smile as she ushered me into a hug.
"It's good to see you." I whisper.
"I knew you missed me. You've just never wanted to admit your feelings about anything. Ever."
"Don't give me a lecture about 'feeling through my emotions' right now. I've had a crazy week."
"Wanna talk about?" We sit on her bed.
"I don't know. There's this new girl at school. And she's just very confusing."
"And what does that have anything to do with you?"
"She's trying to take my top spot."
"Oooo Dev's got competition?"
"Not really. She's just so mysterious and she sees me as this mean, crazy bitch."
